In 1997, archaeologist Mark Lehner experimented with the construction of a small pyramid with a base width of about nine meters and a height of 6.1 meters. Blocks weighing about two tons were moved by forces of 12-20 people, provided that wooden runners were used, sliding along the wooden flooring.

But all the experiments and hypotheses did not answer the question of the delivery of 2.5-ton blocks of limestone and granite to the site where the Cheops pyramid was erected. The answer was only found in 2017: an international team of archaeologists led by Lehner discovered a papyrus in which a supervisor over 40 workers describes this method.

Deciphering the text gave the following knowledge: first, the Egyptians diverted water from the Nile and built artificial canals across the Giza plateau. Then the builders connected wooden boats with ropes, and with their help they transported the blocks almost to the very foot of the pyramid.

But another riddle was revealed at the Cheops pyramid. Infrared thermography showed unexplained voids at the base of the Great Pyramid.

Scientists at different times of the day measured the temperature of the stones from which the pyramid was erected. The stones heated up and cooled down at different rates, which indicates the presence of external factors. In general, the difference in temperatures for neighboring stones did not exceed 0.1-0.5 ° C, but in some areas this parameter reached 6 ° C. The purpose of these channels is unknown - either they were used specifically for ventilation, or the traditional ideas of the Egyptians about the afterlife are associated with them.

It is believed that the ancient Egyptians were fluent in geometry, and knew about the "number Pi" and the "Golden Section", which was reflected in the proportions of the Cheops pyramid and the angle of inclination. Versions about the methods of building the Cheops pyramid

The pyramid of Cheops was built by the architect and chief Hemiun, a cousin or nephew of the supreme ruler himself. The third is the use of a spiral outer ramp around the perimeter. But its application did not explain how the inner chamber was made, where the pharaoh's sarcophagus is located, located 50 m above the base, and where one relatively narrow corridor leads.

Even with today's advanced technologies and techniques, it is difficult to imagine a way to firmly construct this miracle of architecture.

Theories of the creation of the Cheops pyramid

French architect Jean Pierre Ruden became interested in the Khufu pyramid in 1999 and devoted 10 years of his hard work to it. As a professional designer, he wanted to understand what techniques people used to build it almost 5,000 years ago. The result of his examination was the conclusion: the ancient Egyptians used an internal ramp during construction, which grew along with the pyramid and repeated its perimeter, with an angle of inclination not higher than 7 degrees (the rise steeper makes it impossible to move stone parallelepipeds on wooden rolls and runners).

Jean Pierre explained the impeccable fulfillment of geometric proportions by the fact that at first they laid the front polished blocks along the outlined lines, then two more inner rows of already unpolished but correctly marked slabs were aligned along them, and then the empty space was filled with roughly sawn limestone. His theory explained how the granite parallelepipeds of the burial chamber of the pharaoh were raised and installed at a height of 50 meters.

This theory would be recognized as reliable and final if there were voids in the thickness of the Cheops pyramid, which remained after the cessation of construction and indicated the presence of internal ramps. But so far there is no such confirmation.

All experts agree that some parts of the Khufu pyramid are made at a high technological level that could not be realized 4000 years ago. So, for example, the granite pieces of the structure are carved out of the rock with such precision that it is not possible to insert even a knife blade into the gap between them.

The very fact of Khufu's burial raises many questions: the granite sarcophagus for his mummy was unfinished, made without proper care, and no traces of burial were found. The presence of 15 and 35 tons of granite stones in the masonry also cannot be explained. Such inconsistencies gave rise to theories about the divine origin of the pyramid at Giza. Since the end of the 19th century, the pyramid of Cheops has become a place of pilgrimage for followers of various esoteric currents and those who are fond of magic, who proclaimed it to be the habitat of spirits and demons.

Edgar Cayce, the most famous of all the occultists (1877-1945), proclaimed that it was created by the Atlanteans 10,000 BC in order to escape from a global flood, and that it contains the lost wisdom of a highly developed civilization.

The beginning of the space age gave birth to the invention of the involvement of aliens in its construction. The most popular author of one of these conclusions, the Swiss Erich von Daniken, hypothesized that the Cheops pyramid was constructed by aliens to store the bodies of representatives of foreign civilizations who died on Earth; and the god Ra, who was worshiped by the local population, is an alien, and all the myths and religion of this period are just a distorted reflection of reality. Thorough geometric and astronomical research has led to unexpected discoveries that can be attributed either to coincidences or to patterns:

In addition, four months a year, during the flood of the Nile, from mid-July to mid-November, all men could work at the construction site while their fields and gardens were flooded with water. When at the beginning of November the river returned to its course, and the time for sowing came, the peasants dispersed to their homes. By far the hardest work was done by slaves, who were captured and turned into draft animals. The more Pharaoh fought, the more prisoners became. And also four thousand specialists constantly worked at the construction site: architects, engineers, artists, stone cutters. It was they who designed the temples, secret passages in the pyramid, painted the walls. How did they manage to perform such miracles?

The pyramids were built using muscular strength. The builders' tools were made of stone and copper. Then people did not yet know steel and iron. But they knew how to perfectly handle stones and make tools out of them. For example, knives from that time are as sharp as today's razors. The hammers were as heavy as sledgehammers and small for light, precise strikes. Teslo, chisel, chisel, dolerite ball, saw, drill, grindstone, trowel, plumb line, square-level, cross-level were also used by Egyptian builders.
A rock was chosen for the base of the pyramid. The sand layer was removed and underground structures were built. When the stone was heated, the flame was quickly flooded with water, and thus the same result was obtained. In addition, balls of dolerite, a hard green stone, were used. They were beaten along the intended dividing line until the lump came off. Then the stone block was processed on the spot with tools made of stone, copper and wood. The processed block weighed an average of 2.5 tons, and the heaviest - 15 tons! Scientists have calculated that the total weight of the pyramid is 5.7 million tons.
The hardest work went to those who moved the stone blocks. These people worked in teams of 8-10 people. Workers loaded the block onto a sled-like stand, tied it with thick ropes twisted from papyrus, and dragged it to the construction site. The next brigade approached the rock behind them. The stonecutters rolled off one block after another and the traffic never stopped on the road.

It is clear that at the beginning of construction, lifting the blocks was not as difficult as over time: the height increased, and then the Egyptians built an inclined embankment of sand, brick and stone around the pyramid at an angle of rise of 15 degrees. On this embankment, stone blocks were dragged on the same sleigh, and in order to reduce the friction force, the track was constantly poured with water.
