Rest in May. Rest in May Yalta Crimea in May

At the end of spring, our compatriots, in search of warmth, gladly go to the Crimean peninsula in sunny Yalta, where at this time roses are already blooming and the lilac inflorescences of wisteria emit an aroma. But those who come with the intention of swimming in the sea will be disappointed - the water is still cool. Yalta in May will appeal to those who crave sea air and walks.

Weather in Yalta in May and May holidays

The closer to summer, the warmer it gets in Yalta. Although the daily air temperature fluctuates around +18 degrees, warming up to +25 degrees is more and more often recorded. However, it is only during the day that you can walk without outerwear, and with the onset of twilight at +12 in a T-shirt or shirt, you will no longer get warm.

Long-term experience indicates that, unlike the steppe area of Crimea, spring comes to Yalta with a delay. In the last days of May, it is warm in summer, not only in the daytime, but also in the dark.

It is worth going to the sea not to splash in water, warmed up to only +15, but to soak up in a swimsuit in the rays of the friendly sun. May ultraviolet, in contrast to the summer sun, is much softer and healthier for the body in terms of strengthening immunity. On some days, the sky is still gloomy, and rain is pouring from gray clouds.

Yalta in May: where to go

In the last spring month, few vacationers rush to Yalta, so there is no excitement. The owners are still keeping prices for rented housing within reasonable limits. For these reasons, it makes sense to visit a fragrant blooming warm city on the Crimean peninsula.

Beach vacation

Yalta's cold sea water is the only deterrent to the opening of the swimming season. Although it must be admitted, not everyone is stopped by this - individual brave men still do not deny themselves the pleasure of plunging into invigorating water and even swimming to the envy of other onlookers.

Most of the holidaymakers have to stroll along the coast to admire the "walruses" in the stormy sea and shoot videos of extreme swimming with gadgets. In their view, pleasant sunbathing, which promotes the production of vitamin D in the body, is still preferable to invigorating sea baths.

Entertainment and excursions

What is attractive for the guests of Yalta in the last weeks of spring? First of all, nature plays with all colors and hops with aromas. After the winter holidays, the cold and gloomy weather begins to depress people. The body needs sunlight and warmth. Where, if not in Crimea, can this need be satisfied?

It is advisable for a tourist who finds himself in Yalta in May to head to the famous city embankment and take his time to walk along it. And after that you can go further to get acquainted with the rest of the city's sights. These include the palace of the Emir of Bukhara.

Construction lasted from 1907 to 1911. Thanks to its delightful beauty, it has an apt name - "Fascinating" (in the Turkic translation it sounds like "Dilkiso"). On both sides of the main staircase, two guards, golden Lions, froze with a frightening look. Snow-white columns rise up to the second floor. The upper part of each of the windows has a semicircular shape resembling a horseshoe, which is typical for the Moorish style. When creating the domes, the craftsmen adhered to the Turkish style.

Only three kilometers separate from Yalta the village of Livadia, which owes its celebrity to the White Palace. In the very center of the resort town of Alupka (17 km from Yalta) there is the former summer residence of the Russian leader of the 18th century, Count Vorontsov. The construction took two decades of the first half of the last century (1828-1848). In general, the architects have combined the English and neo-Moorish styles. In addition, in appearance, there is an echo of an era spanning the period from the 8th to the 16th century. During the Yalta Conference in 1945, a delegation from Great Britain lived here.

Cable car

The distance between them is only 600 meters, overcoming which takes no more than a quarter of an hour. Multi-colored double cabins, moving without stopping, slowly rise, passing the avenue of cypress trees. In clear weather, from the domed Darsan hill, a huge sea surface extends 40 km into the distance.

In Yalta, excursion trips are organized in the direction of the famous Massandra wine factory, the highest waterfall on the peninsula (almost 90 m) Uchan-Su (Turkic name for “flying water”). You can get to the Nikitsky Botanical Garden by shuttle bus or trolleybus. Children are unlikely to refuse an offer to see wildlife at the Fairy Tale Zoo, formidable reptiles at a crocodile farm, and trained intelligent mammals at the dolphinarium.

Holidays and festivals

Every year, following the tradition, in early May, fans of jazz music from all over the world come to Yalta for the Jaliton festival. In concerts on open venues on the southern coast of Crimea, not only professional, but also novice performers demonstrate their skills.

Every year on May 9 in Yalta, as in the entire vast country, Victory Day is celebrated. The celebration begins with a solemn meeting at 10 o'clock on the Hill of Glory. Here veterans, representatives of local authorities, townspeople bring flowers to the Eternal Flame. Songs from the times of the Great Patriotic War are played, poems are recited. It is planned to recreate the camp of a soldier's life, a dramatization depicting the moment the Red Army men took the height.

In mid-April, the traditional "Tulip Parade" started in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, which presents various varieties of beautiful plants of 80 thousand shapes and shades. Yalta in May is good in its own way. At this time, the rest is considered budgetary and pleasant for those who cannot stand the scorching summer sun.

May in Yalta is perhaps the most anticipated time of the year. This month there are as many as 23 clear days: the generous Crimean sun, which everyone here has long missed, is finally returning. Of course, it makes a significant contribution to improving the weather in Yalta in May. The warming, which is more and more difficult not to notice every day, is very pleasing to the guests and residents of this resort town.

The weather in May will not deprive connoisseurs of thunderstorms at the beginning of precipitation. At the end of spring, there is 30 mm of precipitation. Such conditions can hardly be called intrusive or rainy, but the dry May weather in Yalta can no longer be called.

The Yalta weather never ceases to amaze guests and residents of this Crimean resort. So, the air temperature here, even on the coldest nights, does not drop below +10 degrees. And on the warmest days, it can reach +25. Well, on average, it keeps around + 15 ... + 19 degrees. Nighttime and daytime temperature readings differ very slightly from each other.

The approaching summer brings many other benefits to the local May. For example, in late spring, tourists will be able to enjoy the Black Sea off the coast of Yalta for the first time in a year. By the end of the month, the water warms up to +20 degrees, which makes bathing in it a sheer pleasure.

In summer, the cultural program of the resort is especially rich - in June the International Festival of Brass Music "Fanfare of Yalta" is held - during the days of the festival, professional and amateur brass bands perform on the squares, embankments and concert venues of the resort villages. An important event in the world of music is the International Jazz Festival "Jaliton", the Music Festival "Star Crimea".

In the middle of summer, guests of Yalta can see the performances of the participants of the Contemporary dance festival, the break dance of the Yalta Summer Jam festival.

The International TV and Film Forum "Together" and the International Festival of Theater Arts "Theater. Chekhov. Yalta ".

Yalta is my favorite city in Crimea. It is considered a resort, and the tourist season lasts from June to September, but at any time of the year I have a great rest here and find something to my liking.

May is a good time to relax in Yalta:

  • the sun does not bake yet, there is no sweltering heat, it is warm. I go hiking in the mountains with a tent and enjoy the beauty of nature;
  • there are few tourists, there are no queues, you can get on all the planned excursions;
  • It is convenient to take pictures, no stranger constantly interferes in the frame;
  • the prices are reasonable, there is still no excitement among vacationers, it is easy to rent housing.

But the sea is cold and you won't be able to swim. Water temperature - +13 ° С. But you can wander around the heated pebbles, sunbathe, take a walk along the coast.

At the end of May last year I was lucky enough to swim. The temperature during the day during the week reached + 20 ° С, the sea quickly warmed up, and I had a chance to open the swimming season.

For walks in May, the most optimal weather conditions. Little precipitation falls, it gets dark late, and the thermometer approaches +18 ° C during the day. It's time for hiking and conquering the top of Ai-Petri. You can visit the Uchan-Su waterfall before it dries up from the heat. But at nights it is still cool - 12 ° С. Long sleeves, sneakers, windbreaker will come in handy.

May Yalta air is light, fresh, filled with aromas of flowering trees and flowers. I returned from rest full of strength and energy.

In the evening, I advise you to walk along the embankment and breathe in the sea air. There are many attractions in the city: palaces, parks, the Botanical Garden, the zoo, the Glade of Fairy Tales Museum.

It will be interesting for children to visit the dolphinarium and the water area. They show performances of marine animals. Instead of lying on the beach uselessly, I tasted all the corners of Yalta.

Yalta in May- is it worth going? Weather, water temperature, is it possible to swim, prices for tours 2020, the cost of an independent trip ..

Crimea and the unofficial resort capital of the peninsula, sultry, is a welcome destination in the summer months. It is generally accepted that here you can have a good rest, sunbathe and swim to your heart's content in July and August. In extreme cases - June.

But many cannot bear it. And is it really necessary? What awaits tourists on the southern coast of Crimea during the May holidays and a little later, even before the onset of the high season? More on that below!

Weather in Yalta in May

Do not expect that you will go swimming right away: it is equally cool both on land and in the sea. The air temperature in early May can be up to + 14-17 ° C, the water will not warm up above +12 ° C. It is colder at night: + 8-11 ° C. Frost is unlikely, but at sunset the thermometer sometimes shows +5 ° C.

Sunny days prevail, but cloudy ones are not uncommon. Chance of Rain: Medium to High, humidity above average.

Victory Day on May 9 in Yalta is traditionally dedicated to the holding of solemn and festive events. In the evening on the embankment V.I. Lenin gave a concert, and after that a disco was held. Fireworks are launched into the sky at 22 o'clock in the port area.

Naturally, no one forbids walking along the sea and climbing the mountains. On the contrary, it is even welcome! Swimming is worth a while ... if your hotel doesn't have a heated pool.

Starting from the 20th, the weather becomes more stable and fine. It will turn out to get a small portion of sunburn on the beaches, walking along the seaside promenades is a real pleasure. Why not - after all, there is no longer any need to shiver from the gusts of the cold wind. Up to + 18-24 in the air during the day, + 12-14 at night.

Towards the end of May, you have the right to expect a breakthrough into the "territory of happiness." And sometimes it really happens: the last days of spring in Yalta are sometimes presented with summer heat (up to +28) and a perfect, blue, color of the sky.

Water temperature

Only by the end of May the sea in Yalta can warm up to + 18-20 ° C. What makes bathing not the most unambiguous event. Some climb with pleasure and confuse others with their contented faces. Others, especially those accustomed to Turkey and Thailand, find it wiser to stay ashore.

Looking towards heated hotel pools (if any). Or the usual walks along the embankments and gatherings on the beaches.

Things to do

There is enough entertainment in Yalta! And hiking in the mountains in May are among the main ones. First of all, because of the not hot weather, which makes it possible to make long, but not too tiring transitions. (full list).

Climbing the Ai-Petri plateau, rope bridge to the "Finger of God", zip-line - these activities will keep tourists busy for the whole day. You can climb the plateau along one of the hiking trails (2-4 hours, depending on preparation), along the way, having examined literally a relict forest and the Uchan-Su waterfall, which is still quite full-flowing at this time. Or you can save your energy and take a ride in the cable car from Miskhor.

On the Ai-Petri plateau there is an entrance to the Trekhglazka cave - you need to go from the upper station of the cable car to the northwest.

A trek to the "Valley of Ghosts" on the slopes of the Demerdzhi ridge promises a lot of impressions: a number of local rocks have a bizarre and memorable look. And it has a chance to be forever imprinted in the memory. However, the assault on the designated plateau is usually started from - it is closer.

  • It is worth considering a possible meeting with ticks. And put on clothing that covers the skin, and on the head: a scarf or a cap. In May and June, ticks are especially active: they got hungry after winter!

Caves

We will mention several Crimean caves, a visit to which will prove to be a very interesting experience for tourists. The Marble Cave and Emine-Bair-Khasar are located on the top of the Chatyrdag plateau - this is to the left of the Alushta-Simferopol highway (turn to the village of Mramornoye).

And the entrance to the Red Caves, the most extensive on the peninsula, is to the right of the highway, right behind the gas station at the exit from Perevalnoye.

South Coast

During the May holidays, you should definitely see the maximum number of palaces of the South Bank - there are not so many vacationers and the guide will be able to give you a little more attention. Livadia, Massandra, Vorontsov palaces - everyone deserves a visit and excursion.

A must-see item in the program of any traveler who first arrived in Crimea is the Swallow's Nest on a picturesque seaside rock. The Nikitsky Botanical Garden, the largest in Russia, and the Massandra Winery, in the basement of which visitors will be shown wines that once made them pale with envy of French experts, are optional.

Bakhchisarai and Sevastopol

A trip to Bakhchisarai and a visit to the perfectly preserved Khan's palace will greatly expand the horizons. If you are not too tired from trekking in the mountains - go on a trip in the vicinity of the city. The places here are really atmospheric and the panoramas above are really amazing. And they allow you to feel like an unusual person: still - you SMOG!

The main base of the Black Sea Fleet, the ancient city of Chersonesos, the Inkerman monastery, Balaklava with its once top-secret facility - an underground submarine base, the graceful Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Foros, the capes of Aya and Fiolent - each of these places is worth visiting. And in May, when the Crimean nature is flourishing, it is doubly so!
