Fco airport transcript. Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport (Fiumicino) - the main air gateway of Italy

Detailed information with illustrations will answer the main questions that such tourists have. A description of the departure area and instructions for connecting to the airport's free internet are also given ( WIFI).

The location of the Fiumicino airport terminals is shown in the diagram below.

Usually Russian tourists arrive at terminal 3.

Arrivals Hall (Arrivals) Terminal 3

On the diagram arrival hall red arrows show the entire route of the landed passengers. Upon entering the building after disembarking from the aircraft, carefully read the signs located there. Popular advice - to follow other passengers - can let you down.

First, transit passengers are separated from the general flow of passengers, heading in accordance with the signs to the provided boarding passes gate areas.

For transit passengers, it is useful to read the article "Fiumicino Airport: terminals and gate areas". There is a general diagram of the terminals and gate areas of the airport.

The rest of the passengers, for whom Fiumicino is the final destination of the flight, are directed to the "Baggage claim" sign (baggage claim).

Then passengers from the EU countries are separated.

All others follow the "All passports" sign.

Before passport control, you will see a drive and a warning about what documents you need to prepare.

You may not be asked for a ticket and hotel reservation, but you need to have them on hand.

After going through passport control, you can go to collect your luggage following the signs "Baggage claim".

In the baggage claim area electronic scoreboard look at the number of the conveyor on which the luggage will be unloaded from your flight.

After receiving your luggage, you need to go to the customs inspection area. There, past all the transporters, there is a long corridor (see the diagram of the arrivals hall).

Near conveyor number 9, turn right into the green customs corridor, marked with a green sign on the floor "Nothing to declare" (if there are no goods subject to customs declaration).

After passing the frosted doors, you find yourself in the meeting room. The further route depends on your final destination.

From terminal 3 to terminals 1 or 2

Some travelers arrive at Fiumicino Airport only to transfer to another flight. If air tickets were booked for each flight separately, the air passenger needs to receive his luggage and then check in for the next flight, often at a different terminal.

To go to terminals 1 or 2, you need to go out of the welcoming hall to the street, turn left and go to terminal 2 for about 50 meters, after about 50 meters you will find terminal 1.

How to get there from the departure hall is written below.

From Fiumicino Airport to Lido di Ostia

For passengers heading to rest at sea in Ostia (Rome region), or transit passengers who are waiting for connecting flights and who wish to brighten up the time with a trip to the sea, detailed information how to get from the airport, how much the fare costs, where to buy a ticket and take the bus to Ostia, is set out.

Fiumicino to Rome by bus

Turning right in the greeter hall, you need to go along a long corridor to the end of the building in the direction of bus station(See the map of the arrivals hall). There, going outside, you will see ticket offices of bus companies and platforms for boarding and disembarking passengers.

The bus ride will take about an hour. The fare from Fiumicino Airport to Termini Station in Rome for these companies is approximately the same (5-6 euros), but the drop-off points are different, which must be taken into account if your hotel is located in the Termini area. For more information about routes and the cost of bus tickets, see the article "From Fiumicino to Rome by bus".

Fiumicino to Rome by train

If you decide to get from the airport to Rome by rail, so there are two options:

Leonardo Express will take you to Termini Station without stops in half an hour, the ticket price is 14 euros;
regional train (Treno Regionale FL-1) - has 6 stops, including three with transfers to the metro line, and arrives at another Roman station - Tiburtina. Ticket price - 8 euros. Travel time - 47 minutes.

The train platforms at the airport are easy to find by following the yellow "Train" signs in the same direction as the bus.

About a hundred meters from the meeting hall, on the left, you will see escalators that will take you to the station to the railway platforms and ticket offices.

Tickets can be bought at the box office and kiosks, as well as from vending machines located in the hall. How to use the machines can be found in the article "Rome: how to buy a train ticket from a machine".

Before boarding the train, do not forget to validate tickets with special punchers, otherwise you may be fined as if you had traveled without a ticket.

Taxi from Fiumicino to Rome

You can order a transfer in advance, for example, at the KiwiTaxi booking service, which provides a number of advantages (reliability, safety, comfort) compared to finding a local taxi:

  • the transfer price will be known before the trip and will not change;
  • you can pre-order child seats and cars for non-standard luggage;
  • the driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals area with a name plate;
  • in case of a flight delay, the driver monitors the arrival time (no surcharges);
  • it is possible to order any class of car (out of 12);
  • operators communicate in Russian, Russian-speaking drivers are provided.

Terminal 3 departure hall

The departure hall of the terminal is located above the arrivals hall on the first level (in our understanding, on the second floor).

On the second level (third floor) there is a shopping area with shops and cafes. From there, through passages equipped with travolators (moving walkways), you can get to terminals T1 and T2, as well as to parking lots and railway platforms.

In the departure hall, check-in for the flight and pre-flight screening of registered passengers are carried out. After that, you can sit in a cafe or stroll around the shops while waiting for information about boarding. A guide to shops and cafes can be found on the Fiumicino Airport website. But do not forget that you still have passport control ahead of you.

It should also be borne in mind that the distances between terminals and boarding gate areas can be significant, especially in zone E, therefore, when information about the boarding gate number appears on the electronic board, it is recommended that you go to the indicated gate without delay. A diagram of all terminals and gate areas (B, C, D and E) of Fiumicino Airport is shown.

At the airport you can connect to free internet.

How to connect (from the airport instructions):

  • Make sure your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  • Select "AIRPORT FREE WI-FI" network.
  • Launch your browser and select FREE WI-FI.
  • This procedure must be performed every time you visit the airport, even if the connection settings are already saved on your device.

Rome's Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is the main and largest air harbor Italy and is included in the list of the busiest aviation complexes in Europe. There are three airports in Rome: Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci, receives the main flow of international flights), Ciampino (serves mainly flights within Italy, as well as charters) and Urba (serves mainly charter flights). All airports in Rome on the map are located relative to the city center as follows: Fiumicino - in the southwest, Ciampino - in the southeast, and Urba - in the north.

History reference

During the years of rapid economic development after the Second World War oldest airport Rima Ciampino was having trouble keeping up with the growing flow of tourists arriving in the Italian capital. The decision was made to build a second international airport near Fiumicino. It was built in 1961 and became the main air complex of the Eternal City. Almost all international flights from all Roman airports were transferred here.

Over the years, the national carrier Alitalia has invested heavily in the improvement and expansion of the airport complex: the construction of new terminals, runways and improved technical equipment.

As a result, today Fiumicino Airport consists of 5 air terminals equipped with gates with modern air bridges, and four runways capable of receiving airliners of any class.
