What does a luxury car look like? Detailed information about what “Lux” is on a train: photo of the carriage, what is included in the ticket price and much more

Luxury class carriages are distinguished by a high level of comfort. One carriage can accommodate from 4 to 6 double compartments. Main feature The advantage of compartments in “Lux” cars is that they consist of two rooms: a bedroom or living room and a bathroom. Compared to conventional coupes, their area is 1.5-2 times larger.

Differences of the Lux coupe

If you purchase a ticket in a Lux compartment, you will be able to evaluate high level comfort. Each compartment has air conditioning, TV and DVD player. There are two shelves located one above the other. The width of the bottom shelf in the unfolded position is 110 cm, so a person of any configuration can comfortably position it. The doors are equipped with magnetic locks that can be locked using key cards. Safes are installed in certain carriages for storing valuables. You can call a conductor with one click of a button.

Each compartment has an individual bathroom. It contains a dry closet, washbasin and shower. Passengers receive a hygiene kit and bed linen free of charge. The compartments are also equipped with bathrobes and slippers.

On most trains, hot meals are included in the ticket price. When issuing a ticket, the image of the corresponding pictogram helps determine this.

What do you need to know when buying tickets?

Luxury coupes are sold only as a whole. You can travel in them together or alone. In any case, you can be sure that a stranger will not move in with you. The advantage of these compartments is that children can travel with adults for free. Their number and age are determined depending on the route:

  1. Within Russia, regardless of the number of adult passengers, one child under 5 years old and one child under 10 can travel free of charge.
  2. On trains departing from the capital to Nice, as well as from Moscow to Paris (via Berlin), there are two tariffs. According to the terms of the fare called “Adult “Family”, one child under 12 years old or two children no older than 4 years old can travel with two adults. The “Adult-Single” tariff allows one adult to bring two children under 12 years of age.
  3. When traveling to Finland, you can use the Single rate (1 adult and 1 child up to 6 years old) or the full rate (2 adults and 1 child up to 6 years old).

When purchasing two-way tickets, you can get a discount of up to 30% on return travel. The cost of the ticket is taken into account on the date of issue and does not include the cost of bed linen and additional services.

Passengers of Lux cars are provided with additional free services at the station. In addition, they can await the arrival of the train in the hall increased comfort.

The SV-class carriage is a premium offer (the abbreviation stands for “Sleeping Car”). It differs from reserved seat and compartment seats in that one compartment isolated by doors is shared by only two people. Also, speaking about CB train tickets, what they are, one cannot fail to mention additional services.

Some routes also offer meals and a robe and slippers to make you feel almost at home. On some branded trains, passengers have access to the latest press and are provided with free access to the Wi-Fi network, which can simply be called an invaluable “plus” - communication on the road, as we know, constantly disappears, and having access to the Internet makes it possible to work, solve business problems, watch movies and read while traveling and, of course, communicate in the usual ways.

How much does a SV train ticket cost?

As follows from what we talked about above, the price of the trip will differ significantly from others. The cost of train tickets is significantly higher than in second-class and compartment carriages. In some cases it varies by 20%. Also, the fare naturally varies depending on the distance. For example, tickets for the Moscow-Vladivostok train to SV will cost about 27,000 rubles.

But a special type of CB tickets is the “luxury” class. The service here is even more exclusive: some carriages (depending on the date of assembly) are equipped with a shower, and the price includes drinks, incl. and alcoholic drinks, which can be delivered from the dining car throughout the route. Not every ordinary tourist can afford to buy a “luxury”: such a trip can cost more than a plane flight. Therefore, the most pressing question before purchasing a carriage in SV or luxury: is the cost of the ticket justified or is it better to fly?

How can I purchase train tickets for the SV carriage?

There are two options: you can go to the station and buy a paper boarding pass there or book your trip online. You can buy train tickets for the SV-car on the website. Thanks to the user-friendly interface, this is easy to do in just a few clicks. At the same time, the price of a train ticket for the SV carriage includes a small site commission for service.

To complete the process, you will not need anything other than your passport data. At the same time, after a ticket is booked, there is an opportunity not to pay for it for some time: the client is given time to think. The service also gives you the opportunity to get your money back if your plans change.

Cars on Russian Railways trains are divided into several types, depending on the number of seats and level of comfort. For most types of cars, Tutu.ru has a seat map.

Seat carriage

The seating carriage has free-standing soft chairs with armrests. It resembles an airplane cabin or intercity bus, but here it is significant more space. It is better to take a ticket for a seated carriage when the trip lasts several hours. This way you won't have time to get tired. These are, for example, daytime express trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg or Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov.

Seated carriages vary greatly in location and number of seats, as well as in classes of service. Therefore, there is no single scheme for them. The figure shows, as an example, a diagram of the carriage of train No. 102Ya Moscow - Yaroslavl.

On Tutu.ru in the “Trains” section there are seat maps for many seated trains, including popular and. When purchasing a train ticket (on the seat selection page), the direction of travel is indicated for some trains. This allows you to select comfortable places so as not to drive backwards.

High-speed train "Strizh", 1st class carriage

Econom-class train

This is the most popular type of carriage due to the low ticket price. The carriage has 54 seats - 9 compartments with 6 beds each. Two top, two bottom and two side. There are no doors between the compartments; they are all connected by a common corridor. All the lower places are odd-numbered, and the upper ones are even-numbered.

Seats 37 to 54 are “side rooms”, they are shorter than the seats in a block of 4. Seats 33 to 38 are located near the toilet. The slamming of the door leading to the corridor and unpleasant odors may interfere here.

The windows in the third (seats 9-12) and sixth (seats 21-24) compartments do not open. This is true for older trains without air conditioning. In new trains the ventilation works fine.

Usually there are two toilets in the carriage, and there is titanium with boiling water for making tea. Each compartment is equipped with tables; on the sides there is a table and two seats if you fold out the bottom bunk. The reserved seat has a lot of space for luggage - there are compartments under the lower seats and third shelves.

In a fully occupied reserved seat it can be stuffy and cramped (especially in the side seats). Second-class carriages in branded trains are cleaner and more comfortable: there is air conditioning and a dry closet, and more sockets.

General carriage

Usually this econom-class train with three seats on each lower shelf, including the lower side ones. This car has several serious disadvantages.

Firstly, reserved seat berths are not suitable for long-term sitting - due to the lack of a soft backrest and headrest. Secondly, it creates a feeling of closeness - there are no armrests separating people from each other. Finally, in most cases, in a general carriage, all tickets are sold without a seat - whoever got there first took the best seats.

This is the least comfortable type of carriage, but it also has the cheapest ticket.

Compartment carriage

A compartment carriage usually has 32 or 36 seats, divided into compartments of four seats each. There are carriages with 38 seats, where seats 37-38 are double compartments. The bottom places are odd, and the top places are even. The compartments are isolated from each other and are locked. There are folding chairs in the common corridor.

The compartment has a mirror, a table, hangers and hooks for clothes, as well as a night lamp for each passenger. Unlike the reserved seat, the compartment does not have a third shelf - it is replaced by a niche for luggage under the ceiling. Therefore, you can sit freely on the top bunk in the compartment.

Coupes are one of the most popular types of carriages due to the combination of price and comfort. There are fewer people in the carriage, extraneous conversations do not interfere, and personal belongings are safe. The compartment car, similar to the reserved seat car, has two toilets and titanium. But in a compartment there are fewer queues for the toilet compared to a reserved seat, since significantly fewer passengers travel in such a carriage.

Often, during promotions, the upper bunks in a compartment can be purchased at the price of a reserved seat. In some carriages, when purchasing a ticket, you can choose the type of compartment. Both men and women can travel in a mixed compartment, but only women can travel in a women's compartment. The type of compartment is determined by the passenger who first bought the ticket.

Luxury car (SV)

SV is a sleeping car. It has from 8 to 10 compartments with 2 berths, both located below. But there are suites (SV) with an upper and lower seat, but in such a compartment there are also only 2 seats. The standard suite has 18 seats. Luxury (SV) is more comfortable than a compartment car, since it does not have upper shelves. The lower shelves have a soft backrest for sitting.

According to the level of SV service better than a coupe train carriage - the suite usually has a button to call the conductor, air conditioning, and some trains also have a TV. Depending on the carrier company, passengers are provided with a different range of services (food, drinks, amenity kit, newspapers, linen). For example, the carrier TKS JSC has high-quality carriages and a high level of service.

Suite (SV) is suitable for a family or romantic trip when you can buy all the compartments. The main disadvantage of SV is the price of travel. It is usually 3-4 times higher than in a reserved seat and 1.5-2 times higher than in a compartment. A trip to NE will cost more expensive than an airplane to a similar distance.

Soft carriage

A soft carriage can have 4, 5 or 6 compartments. The layout of the compartment itself and its furnishings also vary greatly. Each compartment has 1 or 2 beds. If there are two seats, then the bottom one is a sofa that converts into a 120 cm wide bed. The compartments themselves are similar to a luxury suite, but have a larger area.

The soft carriage is equipped at the level of a 3-4-star hotel: each compartment has a dry closet, washbasin, shower, air conditioning, TV, soft sofa and armchair. Here you will be provided with a hot breakfast, a shower kit, a bathrobe and terry towel, and the latest newspapers. Soft carriages are equipped with a bar.

Of the minuses - high price, significantly exceeding the cost of a plane ticket.

International carriage with 4-seater compartments

In terms of comfort level, four-seater coupes international routes similar to ordinary compartment cars on the territory of the Russian Federation. But, as a rule, new cars travel abroad, so they have many pleasant little things (for example, a display with a ticker in the corridor).

Another compartment in such a carriage can turn into a luxury if you raise the upper shelves. Depending on the route, the carriage may have a shared shower, the compartment may have air conditioning, individual lighting for each seat and sockets.

International carriage with 3-seater compartments

On some trains international traffic There are three-seater coupes. There are a total of 33 seats in this carriage. In the compartment, all three berths are located below each other on one side. Such coupes can be used as two-seaters - the middle shelf remains in the raised position.

They are smaller in size than 4-seater coupes and can feel cramped. When there are three passengers in it, they are all forced to sit or lie down together, since it is impossible to sit with the middle bunk lowered. Therefore, carriages with 3-seater compartments are now used very rarely.

It’s only pleasant to drive in such a coupe if you buy all three seats together and raise the middle shelf. Among the amenities, they may have (but not all compartments have) an armchair, a table, a washbasin and a wardrobe.

Rail transport remains the most accessible and comfortable way to travel around Russia. If you need to travel 300-400 kilometers, then the type of car does not matter much, but what if we are talking about several thousand kilometers? Which is better - coupe or luxury, and which option is suitable? the best way? A few simple differences will help you understand the difference between them.

Definition

Luxury carriage– this is an additional carriage that is rented in its entirety or by section for transporting passengers in conditions of increased comfort. Entrance is closed to outsiders, but the level of amenities depends on the specific option. Many “suites” are equipped not only with a toilet, but also with a shower, minibar, heated floors, and other luxury elements.

Luxury carriage

Coupe- this is a type of carriage that is more convenient than a reserved seat, but does not reach the level of service of the SV. It is designed for 36 passengers - 4 people in each box. There are 4 shelves in a separate compartment - two lower and two upper. Each box has a separate entrance, as well as storage space.

Coupe

Comparison

The luxury car should be distinguished from the SV, as this is a special type of VIP stay for wealthy passengers. Its equipment, number of seats and other features depend on the specific option. Coupe is a classic type of car, which has 9 four-seater compartments, 2 toilets, and a box for 2 conductors. The total number of passengers cannot exceed 36 people. If we are talking about a luxury carriage, then, as a rule, there are no more than 8-10 passengers (if there are 4 or 5 boxes, respectively).

The interior of the coupe is designed in a minimalist style. In addition to sleeping places, it contains a table, a chandelier, 2 small reading lamps, and a mirror. If we are talking about “luxury,” then it can resemble a three-star hotel: soft sofas for relaxation, a minibar, TV, wi-fi, a private shower and other luxury elements.

Conclusions website

  1. Number of passengers in the carriage and compartment. The compartment accommodates 36 passengers (4 in each compartment). In a luxury carriage, as a rule, there are no more than 2 people in a compartment, no more than 10 in a carriage, however, this characteristic depends on the type of luxury.
  2. Places for rest. The compartment has 4 shelves, the suite has 2 sofas (however, upper shelves can also be provided).
  3. Interior. In the compartment car there is minimalism, in the luxury car there is baroque, rococo, classic and luxury.
  4. Access. You can go through the compartment car, access to the “luxury” is always limited.
  5. Method of purchasing tickets. Coupe cars are launched regularly, luxury cars must be ordered separately.
  6. Price. The price of a “luxury” is several times higher than that of a coupe.

At the end of the year, I’ll tell you about my travel experience in luxury carriages Russian railways.

So, this summer I needed an urgent trip with my whole family (me, my husband and an infant child) from Sochi to central Russia. And due to the specifics of the direction, it was necessary to travel either by rail or by car. After weighing all the pros and cons, we came to the conclusion that we had only one option left - the train.

There was about a week left before the start of the trip. And you had to decide how to most optimally (comfortably and inexpensively) organize your trip? Agree, not every sensible parent agrees to play roulette and travel in a compartment familiar to everyone with all its risks, and even more so in a reserved seat. In the summer, trains in the Sochi direction are always packed, and therefore the chances of grabbing something from the set of “snore-socks-fumes-doshirak-nonsense-eggs-etc.” very large.

That’s why I started looking for a solution to my equation on the Russian Railways website, and within 5 minutes, clapping my hands with joy, I convinced my husband of the need to turn a blind eye to the price for the sake of the comfort offered. And I found a “Luxury Car”: http://pass.rzd.ru/static/public/ru?STRUCTURE_ID=5217

Here you have no neighbors, and a large bed (so comfortable for sleeping with a baby), and your own toilet with shower, and climate control, and much, much more. So much that I wanted to turn a blind eye to the cost of the ticket - 13,600 rubles per person one way! It’s good that we took it one way...

There was some kind of doubt inside that in the abbreviation Russian Railways R stands for Russian, which means everything can’t be so sweet. Well, okay, let's see...

But in the carriage, the first thing that caught my eye was that it was quite ordinary, and instead of the maximum of 5 promised compartments per carriage, there were them inside like in an ordinary compartment. I immediately thought - where did they hide the toilets then? Having entered my compartment and put my things down, I realized that no one was hiding anything here - we are in a REGULAR compartment car, except perhaps without the upper shelves. But there was even a ladder to the top shelf! Where to climb it?!

Being in a bit of a state of shock, I checked the ticket, and it indicated in black and white that our carriage was a LUXURY carriage. All that remained was to find out the truth from the dear guide. And then it turned out that it was ours...SV! If anyone has traveled in SV carriages, he knows how it differs from a compartment - not only in the absence of an upper bunk. I opened the Russian Railways website on my tablet to make sure I wasn’t completely crazy. And then the conductor (apparently, this is not his first case) says: “Well, look here at the bottom of the page it says that Luxury class coupes are designated (attention!!!) by the letter M - soft. And this is your Luxury there is a regular SV." In response to my shocked “But this car is not an SV, but an ordinary compartment without upper shelves,” the conductor only skillfully spread his hands and said: “Well, whatever it is.” At that moment, all the anger that existed in me wanted to splash out on this dear man. But he has nothing to do with it. The place to look for traces is in the management of this red-and-white, crooked-armed monopolist. Thanks to the conductor and for the story about how and where to properly book a SOFT carriage!

As a result of this trip, we had to seal the air conditioner with a garbage bag several times so that the child would not freeze up (in the miracle car the air conditioner does not decrease and does not turn off when the outside temperature is above 25), stay awake all night and monitor the baby’s sleep (to fit with him on a narrow It is impossible to leave the bed unattended either - there are no handrails). The chef finished us off with his delights of student cuisine for a couple of thousand for two.

The result of the trip is a destroyed nervous system and a crazy night for (only) almost a thousand US dollars!

Thoughts about the return journey did not allow me to sleep peacefully for 2 whole weeks - it would be almost impossible for even seasoned parents to experience such stress again.
Therefore, using the conductor’s advice, we found another train with soft seats. The cost there was already entirely for the entire compartment - a little less than 26,000. And before the trip itself, I was confused by the fact that it was lower than the first tickets to the miracle SV.

But, having entered the carriage, we were able to exhale calmly - this was the same LUX! With a large bed (in fact, there was a second one almost the same), with excellent mattresses and linen, an armchair, a toilet with a shower, with climate control and heating (it got sharply cold in those days). And even though the carriage still resembled a mix of two such Soft coupes and the rest of the “SV type”, we rode calmly and with pleasure.

I was amused by 2 things: the first was the words of the boss of this railway that we are now in a mobile 5-star hotel (either he has never been to one, or he confused it with cognac); and the second is that at the end of the journey along the chain the air conditioner did not work, then the boiler or flush in the toilets (as soon as one thing was repaired, the second was immediately turned off - and so on in a circle).

So my advice, friends - when traveling by rail, be on your guard and don’t fall for the stupid baits of these monopolistic swindlers. And have a nice trip everyone!
