New plane for S7. Airbus A320neo

Family Airbus aircraft A320neo, the abbreviation "neo" (new engine option) means " new option Dviagel", this is the next generation of the A320 family - narrow-body medium-haul aircraft produced by the European concern Airbus.

The airliner made its first flight on September 25, 2014, and in January 2016 the first production aircraft entered service with the airline.

IN air fleet S7 Airlines operates 9 aircraft of this type. The cabin accommodates two classes of passenger service - business and economic. The total number of seats on board is 164, of which 8 business class seats and 156 seats for passengers in economy class.

1 and 2. The first two rows of the plane are occupied by business class.

For the convenience of passengers, it is equipped with comfortable combined leather seats, made in black and grape colors. There is a separate toilet and wardrobe. Separated from economy class by a screen. Typical modern business class for fuselage aircraft of this type.

If for some reason you are not very comfortable looking at the “wall” for the entire flight, we recommend taking seats in the second row.

3rd row. First row of economy class service. "Extra Space" places.

This is the first section of places " increased comfort» on board this vessel. Convenience lies in the increased distance from the row in front or partition/screen by 20-25 centimeters. You will be very comfortable in this row throughout the flight - you can stretch your legs forward and get up from your seat without disturbing your neighbors.

The current practice of many airlines involves charging passengers additional fees for sitting in such seats. The cost of such a service at S7 Airlines starts from 1,000 rubles and varies depending on the type of aircraft and flight duration. Also, there are categories of passengers who, according to the rules aviation security, you cannot be located in such places. This provision is based on the fact that Extra Space seats are most often located after emergency hatches.

Detailed information about the provision of the service is on the S7 Airlines website.

9 and 10 rows. In the area of these rows is the first emergency exit on the wing.

According to aviation safety rules, in order not to impede the approach to the hatches during a possible emergency situation, it is prohibited to place any luggage in the “legs” or under the seat. Also, the backrests of the seats in these rows are blocked or severely limited in reclining.

Be careful and try not to end up in such places. During a long flight this may cause some discomfort.

11 row. The second section of “Extra Space” seats. The advantages here are the same, but there is a small disadvantage, as on the 9-10 rows, you cannot place hand luggage in the passage, blocking the approaches to the second escape hatch.

28 row. Last row on the plane. The proximity of toilets, blocked seats, a constant flow of people to the restrooms - these are the disadvantages that will create discomfort during the flight. Not very comfortable places.

Register for this series only if there are no other options.

Airbus A320neo Economy Class Photos

  • If possible, carefully study the diagram of the airliner you will be flying on.
  • Ask for advice from an airline representative at the airport check-in counter
  • Choose seats that have extra legroom in front of you.
  • Do not take seats at the very rear, close to toilets, kitchens and other technical areas
  • Do not take seats that do not recline or are limited in this
  • Have a nice flight!

Good things are not easy to improve. Modern passenger aircraft have reached such a level that it becomes extremely difficult to radically improve them. Nevertheless, air carriers are demanding new achievements from aircraft manufacturers.

The deep modernization program for the A320NEO family of medium-haul aircraft (New Engine Option) was launched by the European company Airbus last year and was met with great enthusiasm - as of the end of July, 27 companies had ordered 1,429 aircraft of the A320NEO family.

The main differences of this aircraft are new engines and the presence of sharklets-type wingtips (shark fins), which should provide a total 15% reduction in fuel consumption (at the same time, a number of other systems are being modernized, and the wing requires strengthening). The main contribution to fuel economy comes from engines with an increased bypass ratio, which is achieved by increasing the diameter of the turbofan and, accordingly, the thrust provided by the cold circuit of the engine. If the engines of the classic Airbus A320 (now called CEO - Classic Engine Option) have a fan diameter of 68 inches (1.73 m), then on the A320NEO it is increased to 81 inches (2.06 m). At the same time, despite the fact that the diameter of the engine nacelle becomes 2.65 m, the “ground clearance” will still be a decent 46 cm without altering the aircraft landing gear. As Airbus explains, the A320 family aircraft, even at the initial design stage, received fairly high landing gear, since the creation of an extended version of the Airbus was immediately taken into account (the plane, upon takeoff, first lifts the front landing gear from the runway surface, increasing the angle of attack; but a long fuselage with short landing gear limits this angle so that the aircraft does not hit the runway with its tail, and a smaller angle of attack requires an increase takeoff speed and therefore the length of the runway - these problems were taken into account by Airbus engineers in advance, while Boeing engineers are now showing miracles of ingenuity, combining the initially short landing gear of the Boeing 737 with the need to increase the diameter of the engines and the length of the fuselage).

Alexcheban (popular travel blogger): On July 21, 2017, the first Airbus A320neo for the airline was transferred to the Delivery Center of the Airbus plant in Toulouse in France. This is the first Airbus in the new livery and became.

At first I was a little disappointed by the lack of silhouettes of people in the new livery, but how perfect it looks now! Couldn't stop looking at it :)

Search for cheap tickets on all airlines:

Mansur Badrakov, flight director of S7 Airlines in the cockpit:

The first Airbus A320neo in Russia is already on regular flights of S7 Airlines between Moscow and Novosibirsk!

5 reasons to fly on a modern aircraft in Russia

Convenient schedule, comfortable airplane seat with adequate legroom, bright and quiet cabin and… low price ticket! All this can be purchased in one place flexible tariff with different options and from one airline. Isn’t this what the passenger values when making his choice?!

An ordinary airplane cabin, where I didn’t expect to see anything special, but I admit that these FIVE reasons leave no choice, on board this plane a meek one and a half hour flight will fly by in an instant, and even in 4-5 hours above the clouds you won’t have time to get tired here. The first Airbus A320neo in Russia, an example of future technologies that allow you to fly more comfortably and cheaper today.

    Welcome aboard?!

And the luggage racks have very stylish green lighting to match the color of the livery.

    2. Relax during the flight

Only modern technologies make it possible to make things that are familiar to us lighter, more elegant, thinner and lighter. And, therefore, reduce costs.
The cabin of the A320 Family aircraft is 18 cm wider than that of the Boeing 737 and 737 MAX, allowing for wider seats or a wider aisle for faster turnaround of the aircraft at the airport and for more convenient movement of passengers and cabin crew with trolleys during the flight.

The seats in the cabin of the first A320neo S7 are leather, black and very stylish. I like the new brand and livery so much, the color combination is good and practical. Leather interior is worse on long flights, but on the A320/B737 it is quite logical, because it is subject to more wear and tear with frequent maintenance than fabric upholstery.

And also – pockets for magazines and safety instructions here at the top, I’m tall and really don’t like it when precious useful centimeters at knee level are hidden by logbooks. After all, I put my things in a special bag on the floor.

Pay attention to the space under the seats. In modern airplanes there are thin partitions, there are no in-flight entertainment system blocks, not even life vest“recessed” deep into the chair. Carry-on luggage can be placed under the seat; on a new plane, 20% more more space down for her!

The S7 Airlines A320neo cabin has 156 economy class seats and 8 business class seats.

The business salon has also been updated! Fewer airlines are ordering a configuration with true business class seats, preferring the flexible reconfiguration of the economy class cabin. Everything here is gorgeous! The backrest and footrest recline, and there are USB outlets and power sockets.

The business class cabin is separated from the economy class by a curtain, rather than by a blank wall. Therefore, I advise you to choose an economy seat in the third row, these are “extra-space” seats.

I don’t like the first row, my legs rest against the wall.

A few words about the microclimate - Airbus engineers have developed a special catalytic converter unpleasant odors, which guarantees fresh air in the cabin. The air in the cabin of the A320neo is completely replaced every 2 minutes!

    4. Fly quieter

Do you know how to distinguish new Airbus A320neo from everyone else? The size of the engines is huge! Look at the relationship between human height and engine size in the photographs. The Airbus A320neo is available with Pratt&Whitney or CFM LEAP-X engines. The A320neo of S7 Airlines is equipped with Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100G-JM engines. These engines are quieter, resulting in up to 20% less noise in the cabin!

This is especially noticeable during takeoff; the noise of the A320neo is more subdued and quiet, in contrast to the “growling” sound of the A320ceo during takeoff.

And these are the Airbus A320 sharklets:

Airbus began installing new Sharklets wingtips on the A319, A320 and A321 aircraft in late 2012. They are standard on all A320neo family aircraft and can also be installed on A320 aircraft already in service.

The height of the sharklets is 2.4 meters, they are made of composite materials. Sharklets improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft and reduce drag by reducing the “slip” from the wing edge.

Sharklets reduce fuel consumption by 4% per long routes, which is equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by 1000 tons per year per aircraft. Sharklets increase flight range by approximately 185 km or payload by 450 kg.

What does the first Airbus A320neo of S7 Airlines look like on a real flight, and not in pictures from presentations? Let's get a look.

↓ 2. A colleague boarded one of the first Airbus A320neo (VQ-BCF) flights of S7 Airlines from Novosibirsk to Moscow. At my request, I shared photos - I’ll show you and save them here for history. Please forgive the quality of the pictures (taken on a phone), it’s just interesting to look at this iconic aircraft for S7 Airlines in real flight, and not just on beautiful cards from official presentations in Toulouse and Moscow. Externally, the A320neo differs from regular A320s in that it has larger engines (in the case of the S7, it also has a new livery - neo is in the new one, and all 320 S7s are in the old one). The new engines seem to be less noisy, more environmentally friendly and economical. However, during launch and takeoff, it did not seem to us that the engines were noisier than usual (we filmed the takeoff at a distance of about 150 meters); on the contrary, the sound was more reminiscent of powerful wide-body airliners such as the A330. However, they say that inside the plane during flight the noise is still really less than usual.

↓ 3. Safety instructions (safety card). There is slightly more legroom than the previous version.

↓ 4. The cups and napkins have not undergone any changes:) But in the chairs themselves there are sockets with a USB connector (there are no photos with them, unfortunately), you can recharge the gadget.

↓ 5. On the back of the chair at eye level there is a mount for a tablet or phone - if anyone wants to watch a movie on them, it will come in handy. Although it’s more convenient to put the laptop on the table and look at it, what if you don’t want to carry it around with it and decide not to take it on a trip?

↓ 6. A320neo interior and spacious luggage racks.

↓ 7. The portholes are new and clean, great view.

↓ 8. All A320neos are equipped with wingtips of an updated design, which reduce the cost of maintaining the aircraft, as well as slightly increase the flight range (+150 km) or maximum load (+500 kg). Of course, it was a great idea to place the S7 logo on the sharklets - soon there will be a lot of such photos on Instagram.

    Thank you for your attention.
