Lisbon is the largest port city in Portugal, which is also its capital. The constant influx of travelers also brings a lot of income, which is why Lisbon is considered one of the richest cities in Europe and the most successful business center in Portugal. The fastest and most convenient way to get to this piece of paradise on Earth is by air.
The huge Portela air hub is the largest in the country, serving an annual passenger traffic of 15 million, and the number of arrivals is growing every year. The airport was built in 1942. Having gone through several reconstructions and modernizations, today the air complex is operating at full capacity, serving not only two passenger terminals, but also one belonging to the air force. Two runways with a length of 3805 meters and 2400 meters, a width of 45 meters, allow you to freely receive and accommodate all types of arriving liners.
Lisbon's convenient location makes it a popular hub for travelers heading to Brazil, Maidera and the Azores. The fastest way to get from Lisbon airport to the city is by taxi. The method is worth taking note of the elderly and parents with small children. Despite the fact that the city center is only 6 kilometers away, it is better to do them in comfort and get straight to your destination - a hotel or apartment. True, the trip will cost about 13-16 euros plus 1.5-2 euros for luggage.
There are always a lot of free cars, the competition among drivers is high, therefore, the revenue is not too big, so sometimes they take advantage of the fact that travelers do not know the city well, winding up extra kilometers.
To protect yourself from an artificial increase in prices using a longer route, it is better to buy a special receipt in advance, which indicates the optimal path from point to point and the cost of the route.
The way from Lisbon airport to the city can be done by regular buses. The route is open from 7 am to 11 pm. City airbuses No. 22, yellow, as well as Carris minibuses run with a break of about half an hour. The advantage of the trip is a convenient and interesting route, during which guests of the city can see many sights. Stops are also well located - next to large hotels, river, railway and bus stations, entrances to metro stations.
The fare will be 3.5 euros for adults and 2 euros for children 4-10 years old. The car park is located near the arrivals hall, next to the car park. In 2013, a subway service was launched between the airport and Lisbon. Getting to the city center by metro will be faster and cheaper. One trip costs 1.9 euros, including the price of the card itself. Trains run at shorter intervals than buses, so the journey time is about 20 minutes, and there is no chance of getting into traffic jams on the metro. It is more convenient and profitable to buy a card for daily travel, its cost is 6 euros. The metro has one drawback - on the way to the city center you will have to switch from line to line. With heavy or large bags, this will not be easy. But the metro works from 6:30 am right up to 1:00 am.
There is also a transfer option if tourists have booked a hotel room in advance. You just need to submit an application in advance, notifying the staff a day or two before arrival, and also clarify whether this service is provided free of charge. Some hotels do not include transportation services in the price of accommodation. Lisbon airport is a part of the city, so the cost of travel on any transport there or back, including a taxi, will cost the same as travel around the city.
