Several transport options to Amsterdam from Schiphol

Such a developed structure of the air terminal has the ability to provide its passengers with several ways to get from Amsterdam airport to the city center. Immediately at the exit after collecting luggage, signs and signs mark the passage to the railway platform, the bus and taxi stand, as well as to the car rental point. Let's consider each option separately.

Travel by rail

The most convenient way to travel around Holland is by train - the road turns out to be fast, comfortable, informative and economically profitable.

The railway platform is located directly below the Schiphol arrivals hall, which is equipped with escalators and lifts. The Dutch company Nederlandse Spoorwegen regularly sends its trains both to Amsterdam and neighboring cities:

  • The Hague;
  • Rotterdam;
  • Eindhoven.

If you want to get exactly to the center of the capital, then you need to choose a route to the station Amsterdam Centraal - Central Railway Station. The road will take no more than 17 minutes, and trains run every quarter of an hour from 6 am to 1:30 am every day. Special night flights are available at later times.

One-way ticket prices are not the same:

  • 2nd class passengers will pay 4 EUR;
  • for a 1st class seat you will have to pay from 6 to EUR;
  • children from 4 to 11 years old can travel on a single pass for trains of the 2nd class for 2.5 EUR, valid for 1 day;
  • small children under 3 years of age can be transported free of charge;
  • do not forget that if you do not have a ticket, you will still have to pay the fare and a fine of 40 EUR.

Tickets can be purchased online at the station's website or at special terminals located on the platform, paying with a plastic card. If this option does not suit you, then for cash at the box office, but the ticket price will increase by about 1 EUR. Regular international trains to Paris, Antwerp, Brussels and Berlin also stop at Amsterdam Airport.

From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam by Bus

A less convenient, albeit inexpensive, option to get from Amsterdam Airport to the city center is to travel by bus.

An extensive network of routes connects the airport to various districts of the capital, and most flights stop right in front of the arrivals halls at the A7 platform of Schiphol Plaza. Travel time to the center can take up to 50 minutes, instead of the usual 30, depending on the intensity of city traffic and the time of day.

Flights run almost around the clock, at 15-minute intervals, but a little less frequently on weekends. The most convenient routes are 197 and 370, although they do not call at the central railway station, but stop at the stops "Museum Square", Vondelpark or "Square Leidseplein". For a one-way ticket, you will need to pay from 5 to 7 EUR, and you can buy it at the counter at the airport or from the driver for cash.

Many hotels provide free travel with their own bus to your destination. Another type of bus service is a trip on the Connexxion Holel shuttles, on the so-called express bus, to any hotel in the capital. The fare depends on the place of arrival and ranges from 17 EUR and more.

Taxi ride to the center of the Dutch capital

The most comfortable trip will, of course, be by taxi. The road will take about half an hour, but the cost in this case increases many times and reaches about 40 EUR. The city taxi rank is located right in front of the exit, and there is no shortage of free cars either day or night. You can also order online in advance and pay by card.

Quite often, travelers rent a car for the duration of their arrival in the country, and check-in points and a car park are located right at the airport. The rental price is quite low in comparison with other European countries, and the travel time will depend solely on the traffic situation and your driving style.
