Boeing 737-300: cabin layout, best seats, characteristics

After the successful release of the 737-200, Boeing decided to update the Boeing 737 family, thanks to which the 737-300 appeared in November 1984. The first ordering company was the US Airways corporation. The main goal of the aircraft designer was to improve the aircraft with new technologies and retain the features of the previous model, and this is how the Boeing 737-300 airliner appeared, also called the Boeing 737 classic.

Also, after the release of the three hundredth model, other aircraft followed, included in the classic series of the 737 family. The airliner was improved with the following modifications:

  • A new CFM56 turbo engine was installed, thanks to this engine they were able to reduce the noise level in the cabin and reduce its fuel costs during flights.
  • The wings were also improved, they were lengthened by twenty-three centimeters, thanks to which the engineers achieved better aerodynamics than the previous model.
  • The control cabin has also undergone changes, a new electronic circuit was supplied to it to improve flight control.
  • The interior has also been slightly redesigned. They not only added new seats, but also improved some of the old rows.

The Boeing 737-300 is designed for short and medium-haul flights. Due to its low maintenance cost and improved engine noise cancellation, the airliner quickly gained popularity with many airlines in the world market and was used on commercial flights around the world.

In just fifteen years since the launch of the liner, the company has produced and sold more than 1000 737-300 aircraft around the world. The last airliner was acquired by Air New Zeland. A supplement called -300SP was released for the three hundredth version of the aircraft. In this modification, the winglets were changed. Today, many airlines have long since replaced the 737-300 with the newer and more advanced Boeing airliners.

Specifications

The first test flight took place in February 1984. The liner was produced from 1984 to 1999, during these fifteen years the company released more than a thousand aircraft of this model from the assembly line. The liner had a wingspan of almost 29 meters, with a height of 11 meters and a length of 34 meters.

Thanks to the new engine, the liner was able to maintain a flight speed of 780 kilometers per hour, while the maximum speed developed up to almost 876 kilometers per hour. The liner can rise to a height of 11 kilometers. The crew consisted of only two people, thanks to the excellent location of 149 seats, they quickly managed their duties and provided high quality services.

The cabin in the Boeing 737-300

There are three different seating arrangements in the cabin. The two-class arrangement of seats can accommodate up to 128 passengers with a step width between seats of 91-91 centimeters.

There is also a layout designed for economy class passengers only. The seats in it vary from 140 to 149. If the step between the seats in the cabin is 81, then the cabin can accommodate 140 seats, but if the step is lowered to 76 centimeters, then up to 149 passengers can be accommodated.

In some cases, the economy class is divided into two classes, then they are called the premium economy class (it is located in the nose and middle of the aircraft) and the tourist class (for it, the seats are located in the rear of the aircraft).

The layout of the cabin and seating on the 737-300

Let's take a closer look at the layout of the Boeing 737-300. Thanks to our further advice, you will be able to choose a more comfortable seat for yourself among all the seats in the cabin.

Of course, if you want to get the most out of the flight, then feel free to take seats in business class, but they are much more expensive than seats in economy class. But in this class, your money is taken not only for the flight, but also for high-quality service and very comfortable seats. Seats in business class belong to the seats with increased comfort. Throughout the flight, you will be able to comfortably sit in your seat and the time that passes in flight.

But even here you can choose the best seats, do not take the row that is closer to the economy class, since there is a partition behind the second row that separates these two classes. Because of this partition, you will not be able to tilt your back and relax normally throughout the flight.

Also, in spite of the fact that in the nose of the aircraft the engine noise level is much lower than in other parts of the aircraft. But in the second row, passengers will constantly hear their troubled neighbors in economy class. But it is worth remembering that even the most comfortable and convenient seat in economy class cannot be compared to a seat in business class.

Now talk about economy class, as a rule, the very best ranks are ahead of their class. In our case, this is the very first row after business class, there is more free legroom near it, but you will have to watch the entire flight against the wall.

The next convenient row in the cabin is 17, since it is located immediately after the emergency exit, it has a number of restrictions for safety reasons and another drawback is the temperature, in this part of the cabin it is much colder than in others. So it is worthwhile to immediately prepare warm clothes or ask the flight attendant for a blanket if you have to fly in these places.

The main feature of this row is that it has a lot of free space and if you need to leave the place, you can easily do it without disturbing your neighbors.
