How to get to Vnukovo airport from Moscow: all the ways

Vnukovo is considered the oldest and most uncomfortable international airport in Moscow. It is located about 30-35 kilometers southwest of Red Square. How to get to Vnukovo Airport by public transport or car, we will tell you in detail in our article.

The airport consists of three large complexes:

  1. Vnukovo-1. Used to receive regular flights and passengers.
  2. Vnukovo-2. Serves diplomatic and government flights.
  3. Vnukovo-3. Used for business purposes, the Moscow government and industrial aviation.

Vnukovo Airport consists of several terminals

Only the Vnukovo-1 complex is available to passengers. It, in turn, consists of three terminals:

  1. A. The most comfortable, spacious and modern terminal for scheduled flights. The way from the entrance to the departure area is quite fast: the check-in counter and various checks will take you about 20 minutes. This terminal has many comfortable benches and armchairs, free wireless internet, several duty-free shops, a cafe and a recreation area. The panoramic windows of Terminal A offer excellent views of the airfield and aircraft taking off. The boarding gate is from the second floor.
  2. B. This is a charter terminal. You can get here only from the ground, and not through the flyover, as in the first terminal. There are much fewer amenities here, the building itself is quite old. Prepare to wait on the street while staff check other passengers' luggage. There are quite a few shops inside - usually travelers sit on the floor or on window sills. Terminal B has two rather expensive cafes, several duty-free shops and paid Wi-Fi.
  3. D. This terminal is currently closed for renovations. The airport authorities say it will be dismantled in the coming months and Terminal B expanded.

How to get to Vnukovo airport by aeroexpress

Aeroexpress is the easiest and most reliable way to get to the airport on time, at the lowest price and without worrying about being late. Trains leave directly from the Kievsky railway station about once an hour from six in the morning to twelve at night. It takes almost 35 minutes to get from the station to the airport, but sometimes trains can be delayed. Be sure to check the train timetables as they may change.

Note: Aeroexpress is closed on some days from 11:00 to 13:00. Trains run slightly more often in the evening than during the day. Be sure to check the schedule for the day you need on the official website of the company.

You can buy train tickets at any time at the station at special ticket offices or vending machines standing along the walls. The train station itself is usually fairly free and has empty seats, so arrive here twenty minutes before the train leaves. You can pay for the ticket automatically using Visa or MasterCard, leaning them against the turnstiles. There are almost always seats in the Aeroexpress, the carriages in it are comfortable and well-groomed - 35 minutes of the journey will fly by very quickly.
