Budget trip to Amsterdam via finland or estonia. European Pearls Helsinki Amsterdam Ferry Schedule

Friends often come to me with a request to plan a travel itinerary. This time friends want to go to Amsterdam.

I would like to point out right away that we are all Petersburgers and St. Petersburg will be the starting point. It happens that it is cheap to fly from St. Petersburg to Amsterdam via Riga, but friends want to go in early May, and there prices are already high, less than 10-12 thousand will not be enough, and therefore I began to look for workarounds. And 16 hour stops in Riga at night are not at all pleasing.

So, there is such a low-cost airline Ryanair and it flies from Lappeenranta and Tallinn to Germany. First, I'll tell you about the route from Lappeenranta.

From Lappeenranta, you can fly to Dusseldorf, or more precisely to the city of Weeze in Germany. The ticket price varies depending on the date, but the minimum price is 30-40 euros.

Minibuses run from Weeze Airport every 2 hours to the city of Nijmegen, which is already in the Netherlands. The transfer price is 18 euros. Then in Nijmegen you can take the high-speed train and get to Amsterdam

The price of a transfer from St. Petersburg to Lappeenrantu airport depends on the transport company, but on average 1000-1200 rubles. In the link, I indicated a site that is a directory of companies, where you can clearly see the prices.

Now about Tallinn.

From Tallinn it will be advantageous to fly to Bremen or also to Weez. I have already described the second option above, so let's dwell on Bremen.

German trains run from Bremen directly to Amsterdam! If you buy your tickets online in advance, you will save a lot. It is worth noting that you must buy tickets with your credit card, or the person who bought the tickets must be in close proximity to you. The credit card can be checked by the controller. At the moment, the price of a train ticket is from 29 euros.

You can view tickets to Tallinn on the luxexpress website. Note that there are two types of buses - Lux and Simple. The comfort on the road is vastly different. The Suite has a coffee machine and wifi, which is important for me personally)) Sometimes there are sales for luxury buses, but at the moment they are not, and therefore we will go with a simple for 650 rubles.

In total, the whole trip will cost you 6 - 8 thousand round trip, depending on the dates, city of departure and arrival.

And in Amsterdam, somewhere in May, prices for hotels and hostels increase 3 times. Therefore, I advise you to use airbnb. Now I have booked accommodation for 30 tr for three people for 10 days, for comparison, you can look at the prices, for example, on booking.com and see prices that are absolutely not pleasing to the eye (we are talking about dates starting from May)

I really hope that the advice is useful to someone! PEACE!

Often, tourist routes are built and thought out in such a way as to reduce travel time to a minimum, because a modern tourist seeks to move quickly, comfortably, without unnecessary transport problems.

One of the popular destinations is the Helsinki - Amsterdam route. Having visited the northern Scandinavian countries, tourists head west.

So, in order not to get stuck on the road, you can use an airplane. The cost in this case will be 150 euros round trip. If you need a one-way ticket, then, depending on the airline, it will be 80-90 euros.

How to get there by plane

You can use the offers of KLM, FinnAir or Scandinavian Airlines. These are non-stop flights from Helsinki, Vantaa (HEL) to Amsterdam, Schiphol (AMS). The flight will be about 2.5 hours, the distance between cities is 1500 kilometers.

How to get there by ferry

Some people prefer to travel by ferry, in which case you have to choose the route "Helsinki - Travemunde (Germany)" or "Helsinki - Rostock (Germany)", and then get there, for example, by bus or train. The journey time on the ferry will be a little more than a day, and the cost will be from 300 to 500 euros, depending on the class of the vehicle and the number of fellow passengers in the cabin. Ferries leave daily.

conclusions

These are the main routes. There are still options for traveling by train, but this is only for those who are not afraid of multiple transfers. For example, take the ferry to Stockholm, then take the Stockholm-Copenhagen train. From Copenhagen again by ferry to Rostock, and then, as described above, you can take a train or bus.

There are no direct bus routes either, but there are so-called tours around Europe, following from Helsinki with transfers and visits to European capitals.
Choose based on your love (or dislike) for long trips and multiple transfers. Have a good trip!

We work with a friend in an international transport company, our activities are directly related to frequent business trips. You have to travel a lot from Amsterdam to sign various kinds of agreements. For two years we have already managed to work out the most optimal routes, in our opinion, both in terms of price and time.

Helsinki to Amsterdam by plane

If you need to get there quickly, comfortably and without transfers, then the plane is exactly what you need. As we managed to find out, the direction of Helsinki is quite popular and in demand, respectively, there are five direct flights a day from two airlines: KLM and Finnair. You can cover the distance of 1,500 kilometers very quickly - in two and a half hours. The main thing is to decide on the most convenient time. Regarding the days of the week, you don't have to worry here - planes fly all seven days.

Schedule:

1. The earliest departure is operated by KLM, flight 1164 from Helsinki Vantaa International Airport at 07.00, and at 8.35 you will land at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. This is the flight that we most often fly. Indeed, in this case, thanks to a fairly early arrival, we manage to solve most of the cases we need.

2. Second departure: Finnair flight 841 at 08.10 also from Vantaa. In Amsterdam, at the Schiphol airport, you will be at 09.45. If you fly on vacation, the time is great, but it doesn't suit me very well for business meetings, because we get to the office by the middle of the day.

3. In the afternoon from Helsinki you can take off at 14.05 with KLM flight 1168 and arrive at 15.35.

4. The next flight in the afternoon is 845, Finnair departs from Vantaa at 16.15 and arrives at Schiphol at 17.45.

5. The last direct flight 1170 from Helsinki departs the airline "KLM" at 18.15, in Amsterdam the plane at 19.45. Also like this option, in case of very early negotiations. After all, upon arrival there is always a great opportunity to have a good rest or walk around Amsterdam.

Ticket prices

The ticket price depends on whether you take a one-way ticket or immediately there and back, as well as on the class in which you are going to fly: economy will be cheaper, business will be more expensive. Most often, we buy tickets immediately there and back. In this case, they cost us an average of 85 - 90 euros per person. It is in economy class. I really like the conditions on the airplanes of KLM and Finnair, the flight is not long - only 2.5 hours, so I do not consider it a big necessity to pay several times more for business class tickets. Several times we took one-way tickets, they cost us, on average, 150-160 euros per person.

Buying tickets

We usually buy tickets via the Internet on the official websites of airlines: https://www.klm.com/ and https://www.finnair.com/ru/

Helsinki to Amsterdam by ferry

If time permits and there are opportunities, then we get to Amsterdam from the ferry. This is one of my favorite modes of transport. Despite the length of the journey - more than a day and one change (the ferry goes to Germany, and from there by train or bus to Amsterdam), nevertheless, the beauty that opens around it is definitely worth it. So, thanks to Finnlines, you can take a ferry from Helsinki at 17.00 and arrive in Travemunde () the next day at 21.30. The ferry runs daily.

From Travemunde to Amsterdam

In Travemunde we usually book an overnight stay at the small Hotel Grüner Jäger (65 euros per night). And at 07.22 a train leaves from the railway station to Amsterdam, where we arrive at 15.00. You can go by bus. It departs at 08.23 and arrives in the capital of the Netherlands at 19.00.

Ticket price

The ferry ticket price depends on the cabin class. We usually take "Standard A2" for 2 people with a window, as my friend is afraid of confined spaces. Depending on the season (more expensive in summer), the trip costs us 400 - 500 euros per person. A train or bus ticket costs around 40 euros.

Buying tickets

We buy ferry tickets on the Finnlines website: http://www.finnlines.com/. The train or bus is already in place at Travemünde train stations.

Conclusion

Thus, the fastest and most convenient transport from Amsterdam is by plane - just 2.5 hours and you are there. If you want to arrange a sea cruise in parallel with the road, you will like the ferry. But I would not recommend going by train. After all, it will take a lot of transplants. So, you will first have to go by ferry to Stockholm, then by train to Copenhagen, then change to a ferry to Rostock and again by train to Amsterdam. It turns out too long, expensive and troublesome.
