History

For the first time the plane landed on the airport airfield in 1961, cruising from Kiev, it was An-24. Only in 2006 the airport was given international status. Despite this, the beginning of work, the Kherson airport was postponed for several years. The full-scale launch of the airport took place only on April 10, 2013. In the same year, a Ukrainian airline called Motor Sich began operating regular flights from Kherson airport towards Moscow. For these flights, an aircraft of the An-140 type was used, which took 52 passengers on board. Already in October 2014, regular communication with Istanbul was established, the planes belonged to a Turkish airline, performed 4 flights weekly, and since the spring of 2015, planes fly to Istanbul every day. Also, the transportation of passengers within the country to cities such as Lviv and Kiev has been established.
