New Delhi (1-2 days)

The capital of India is a huge metropolis. Many travelers deliberately avoid this city. But if you think about the route in advance, you can visit many wonderful places.

The sights of the capital are scattered throughout the city, for a start it is worth visiting Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Humayun's mausoleum, Red Fort, India Gate, one of the city markets (for example, Main Bazaar or Chandni Chowk) - the day program is ready!

The capital of India will be a good place for acclimatization and acquaintance with the Indian mentality and peculiarities of culture.

Agra (2-3 days)

The city must be a must on the first visit to India , which houses perhaps the most famous landmark of India - the Taj Mahal. Without exaggeration, this is the pearl of the architectural art of the Indian Peninsula! For many tourists, visiting the Taj Mahal is the main reason arrival in India. But it would be wrong to believe that only this object adorns the "crown" of Agra. Agra Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque, Tomb of Akbar the Great, Itimad-Ud-Daula Mausoleum - this is an incomplete list of the most beautiful and amazing objects in Agra and its surroundings. A ticket to the Taj Mahal gives you the opportunity to visit all the facilities that are noted on the ticket.

In addition, it is in the state of Rajasthan that the real desert is located, therefore, if you have never seen an "adult" desert, you can visit it here.

Amritsar (5-6 days)

An interesting city, in vain, deprived of the attention of many travelers. It is famous for its Golden Temple - the main shrine of the Sikhs. It's really covered in gold, and the territory temple complex- marble.

To visit the temple, you need to walk a distance of about 300 meters barefoot and put on a headscarf.

Near Amritsar there is the only Indian-Pakistani checkpoint through which you can enter and exit the country. Moreover, every day there is a border closing ceremony, which attracts hundreds of Indians and some foreign tourists. The ceremony resembles a competition, where both sides want to show their superiority in dancing, singing, and marching. A very distinctive cultural phenomenon that is a must-see if you are in Amritsar.

The Himalayas begin a few hours from Amritsar. And if you have a few extra days left, you can enjoy mountain landscapes and breathe clean air!

  1. India is a land of contrasts and unique culture. In the first days, you will be amazed by everything that you see, hear, touch, taste. Therefore, tune in to a positive mood and enjoy what is happening.
  2. The local population will try to deceive you in almost 100% of cases, but very often this is a very naive and obvious deception, so do not be upset, there will be no real danger.
  3. Train tickets must be purchased in advance. Often there are no tickets "for tomorrow", so upon arrival in Delhi, you should immediately purchase them for all directions. An alternative to trains is buses, there are almost always tickets for them.
  4. You need to buy water only (!) Bottled, and always check if it is properly sealed.
  5. Always check the price of a product / service before buying / using it, this will save you nerves and time.
  6. Insofar as interesting places there are many in each city, and the distances between them are usually solid, a compromise option could be renting a tuk-tuk (a type of taxi) with a driver for the whole day, or a cycle rickshaw (bicycle taxi) if the facilities are nearby.
  7. India is a great shopping destination. From spices and dried fruits to elegant sarees and suits - great value for a great product! Therefore, you should take a minimum of things with you so that there is room for new things and gifts.

Order now at the lowest price - from 420 euros in both directions!

Independent tourist trips attract many travelers, because this type of tourism not only allows you to develop a unique travel route, but also significantly save on the services of a bureau or agency. With questions of independent trips to neighboring countries, everything is quite simple, but what if you want to go on your own to some distant and exotic country, for example, India? This article will tell you about such a possibility.

Independently to India: visa processing

The first and most important thing in independent travel to any country in the world is obtaining a visa. India Visa get standard: at the embassy or consulate. Visa terms can be from one to six months. Besides, India entry visas are single and multiple. When obtaining a visa, be sure to take into account the fact that it is almost impossible to extend it in the country itself. Therefore, be sure to accurately calculate all the terms of your stay in India... An important point: an Indian visa begins to "work" from the day it is issued, and not from the moment you arrive in the country.

For obtaining a visa to India you will need to collect the following documents: a pre-filled application form, your foreign passport, a photocopy of the same passport, several color photographs of the required size, air tickets to India and back, hotel booking documents for the entire stay, a copy of your regular passport and a document confirming payment visa fee... The decision to issue a visa is made by the staff of the embassy or consulate within 3-4 working days.

Preliminary planning of the travel route is an important part of preparation for independent trip to India.

Choice route in India depends only on you and your preferences, and, of course, the time you plan to spend on the trip. If the time and visa allow you to be leisurely, you can limit your travel planning to a selection of several large Indian cities, and you can already decide on the place with more detailed routing.

Read in advance all the information about the sights of India you are interested in and buy a map of the country. The seasons are also significant in travel in India... So, in summer, for example, South India is experiencing a rainy season, and it will be extremely difficult to wander around its states, in the center of India, summer is associated with a painful and unusual heat for a European, and North India in winter can surprise with cold.

Below is the a brief description of main tourist areas of India:

1. Goa. Goa is subdivided into two parts: North Goa and South Goa... There are a large number of beaches and hotels in both parts, but in the North Goa prices for services, products and goods is much lower than on the coast of fashionable and elite South Goa.

2. Kerala- a paradise for tourists wishing to study practical Ayurveda and in general to join the spiritual heritage of India.

3. North of India for those who want to see amazing natural beauty Himalayan mountains, visit the ancient temples of India. You can go to Rishikesh, Ladakh, Kashmir.

4. The most classic and popular option (and, by the way, very, not bad for the first independent travel in India) tour - voyage to the cities of the Golden Triangle, which includes Delhi, Agra, Jaipur.

How to buy air tickets to India?

In general, there are many airlines that offer their passengers flights to India... In Russia, the most popular flight is Aeroflot - Moscow-Delhi, but there are other carriers to India, information about which can be found on the Internet. By the way, it is also advisable to read the flight reviews there.

How to choose the right hotel for your stay in India?

Information about hotels in India can also be found on the internet. It is best to find a few possible options accommodation at every point of your trip. You should also inquire in advance about the availability of hot water and other amenities at your accommodation. The average cost of living in a small hotel is 400 rupees per day. The nice thing about choosing housing on your own in India is that you can and should bargain for the price of a room.

Have a few copies of your passport with you in order to give them to the hotel administration, it will be useful to have a stock of color photographs, because India is the land of fearless bureaucrats and a photograph is sometimes asked there in the most unexpected cases and places.

What to eat in India?

Contrary to the general belief that food should be treated with caution in India, the practice of experienced tourists shows that food in India is served of high quality. Always fresh vegetables and fruits, rice, specific sauces and hot bread. Do not want to get poisoned - just do not buy food in shops on the street, eat in cafes at hotels.

Be prepared for the fact that in some places in India you will not find meat dishes at all, this is due to the increased religiosity of certain regions of the country.

You will need to get used to the abundance of spices and the unusual taste of water, as well as the complete absence of beef dishes - cow in india- a sacred animal and her murder is a mortal sin.

Be sure to try the following national dishes: dal (a specific stew made from a wide variety of legumes), alu gobi, all kinds of Indian flatbreads, sabji and curry.

What else do you need to know about India when going on your first independent travel?

The main thing is not to believe the rumors about the unprecedented dirt and poverty in which the Indians live: any dwelling indigenous to India is neat and tidy, and the beggars in classical understanding there is no such word in India at all. People are satisfied with their way of life and in many ways this contentment is due to mentality and caste traditions.

You will not find dancing people in India - as it shows with enviable persistence in their Bollywood films, but there are a lot of singing Indians. Hindus love to sing and just like that, and in front of the TV, singing along to the music from a TV series or program.

Do not be afraid of street beggars. They are, of course, annoying, but it is easy to get rid of them by loudly saying the word "police". No professional beggar or barker wants trouble with the law.

TO Europeans in India are friendly, even in areas where they are rarely seen. Particular attention from Hindus in such areas can be caused by female representatives, dressed too defiantly, so travelers should dress more modestly.

Travel video in India:

This article will be useful for those who want to travel to India on their own, but do not know how much it costs and cannot decide.

I roughly described the itinerary and budget of our trip to India this winter. This will be our 2nd trip.

The budget can be reduced or increased, it all depends on your needs.

Some of them use their last money to buy tickets to Goa, sleep there on the beach or at the "peasant under the star anise" in Arambol, ask for alms from the Russians, smoke, and they are happy !!!

In general, everyone decides what happiness is.

The article will be supplemented as we spend. I will mark in green the amounts actually spent, you can compare with the plan))

So, let's begin.

We are going to India for 22 days: 12/31/2017 - 01/22/2018

The budget looks something like this:

1.Airfare costs.

1.1. Omsk-Delhi (with a transfer in Astana) 27,000 rubles for two There and back again.

1.2. We are going to Kerala, but direct tickets are expensive, and I want to call in Hampi and Goa, so tickets were purchased: 01/04/2017 Delhi-Hyderabat (center of India) - 5000 rubles for two ... If you do not want to see India, but fly specifically for Ayurveda in Kerala, then tickets to Kochi 01.01.-04.01. cost about 13,000 rubles, and after 04.01. -10000-12000 rubles for two.

1.3. And return tickets: 01/21/2017. Kochi (Kerala) - Delhi (with a transfer in Bangalore) - 7000 rubles for two (until January 10, tickets are more expensive than 10,000 rubles, and after 17.01 you can fly cheaper). Total: 39,000 rubles.

2. Accommodation.

We choose the most budgetary type of housing (a hut in Russian), the average cost is 500 rupees for two. 22 days * 500 = 11,000 rupees. Plus 2000 rupees just in case (force majeure).

You can compare prices for hotels of different companies on the website

You can read the hotels that we have booked in the article:

The plan came out as follows: 413 + 459 + 635.15 + 550 + 2,282.49+ 2201 + 750 + 2742 + 1,468 = 10,499 rubles.

Since some hotels can cancel the reservation themselves, and there are different situations, so later I will write the amount in fact.

3. Visa.

$ 75 * 2 people = $ 150 = 9100 rubles (approximately). This is the cost of an e-visa.

If you live in Moscow or St. Petersburg, you can apply to the embassy, and the visa will cost you much cheaper (about 2500 rubles per person)

Plus, when paying for an e-visa on the site, a commission of $ 1.8 is taken.

In total, we spent: $ 76.8 * 2 = $ 153.6 (at the rate of 60 rubles - 9216 rubles)

4. Transportation costs in India.

We have several train and bus trips planned, the cost is approximately:

3.1 Train 02.01. Delhi-Agra 700 rubles for two.

3.2. Train 02.01. Agra-Sawai Madhopur 250-350 rubles for two

3.3. Train 03.01. Sawai Madhopur-Jaipur 300 rubles for two.

3.4. Train 04.01. Jaipur-Delhi 470 rubles for two.

3.5. 04.01. Train or bus Hyderabat-Hospet (Hampi) 600 rubles for two.

3.6. 07.01. Train or bus Hospet-Goa (Mapsa or Margao) 1000 rubles for two.

3.7. 10.01. Buses from Arambol (Goa) to Palolem (South Goa) 260 rubles for two.

3.8. 12.01. Bus from Palolem to Kochi.

3.9. 14.01. Bus from Kochi to Trivandrum.

4.10. 21.01. Bus from Trivandrum to Kochi.

The total amount will be calculated after all crossings have been counted.

Also, the list does not include trips within the city by buses, motor-rickshaws and taxis.

What route we got in reality, read the article ""

4. Nutrition

We calculated a budget for food of 1300 rubles per day for two. For 22 days, it turns out 28,600 rubles. This amount includes alcohol (bottle of Rum 180 rupees, beer 0.6-60 rupees). In general, you can dine with rice with Indian sauces for 100 rubles, but we are not vegetarians. We plan to eat at Momo Tibetan eateries, buy seafood once every 2 days. For example, in Goa in Calangute at the market we bought tuna for 350 rupees (2.5-3 kg.), Cooked it for us for 300 rupees. We ate them for 2 days. Or another example: they took medium-sized shrimp in the same place for 150 rupees (600 grams), cooked for 50 rupees. What is - you decide.

5. Shopping.

The budget is 15,000 rubles.

I definitely include in my expenses the budget for the purchase of Indian cosmetics and various dietary supplements and medicines, because I don’t buy shampoos in Russia.

6. Ayurveda.

We definitely include a general massage in the budget, the average cost is 600 rupees, 10 sessions. For two, it turns out 12,000 rupees.

Plus several Ayurveda treatments Rs 3,000.

And a few yoga lessons 1000 rupees.

Total: 16,000 rupees (rubles).

7. Excursions.

Below I will describe our daily route along with the prices for excursions to make it clearer.

1.01. Departure Astana-Delhi. Day in Delhi.

Tours have not yet been assigned.

2.01. Departure by train to Agra.

Visit to the Taj Mahal. Price 1000 rubles * 2 = 2000 rubles.

3.01. Visit to the Ranthambore nature reserve. Jeep safari: 1800 rupees * 2 = 3600 rupees.

Visit to the Fort in Jaipur. The price is 500 rupees, but perhaps we will take a tourist ticket to visit several attractions. Price 1000 rupees * 2 = 2000 rupees.

Visits to the reserve with elephants.

Departure from Hyderabat to Hospet (Hampi).

14.01.-21.01. Trivandrum (Kerala).

21.01. Departure from Kochi-Delhi.

22.01. Departure Delhi-Astana-Omsk.

The plan is approximate, not all expenses are taken into account, only the main ones. After the trip I will write what happened in the end.

The rupee to ruble exchange rate for a 1: 1 calculation, in reality, will be slightly more profitable.

  • How much money to take with you in Goa? We calculate the budget ...

Hello everyone, my dear readers! Today I want to talk in detail about how we compiled our travel itinerary in India, what were guided by and what we took into account when drawing up the plan.

In 45 days in India, we covered a total of 4000 km: we visited many cities and attractions in them. Such a huge amount of impressions has not been given to me by any country of all that I have been able to visit at the moment.

Below I will explain what logic we followed when drawing up the route.

In this article:

1.From bottom to top, top to bottom or in a circle

India is a huge and very diverse country. States (analogs of regions in Russia) can be strikingly different from each other in terms of purity, education of the population, cuisine, main language and other parameters.

So, the northern states of India look much poorer and dirtier than the southern ones, there is more devastation there. Therefore, many travelers advise exploring this country from north to south so that the experience of the country improves as you move to the lower part of the country.

It is up to everyone to follow this advice or not. Someone travels from north to south, someone from south to north, and some travelers generally make a round trip around the country along the entire coast.

We chose the first option and decided to go down from the northern states to the southern ones. In addition, the next item supported our plans.

2. Select the city of arrival and departure

Everything is very simple here: which city the cheapest tickets are sold to will be the first.

In our case, the most inexpensive tickets from Yekaterinburg were to the capital of India - Delhi.

One-way tickets for two cost us 22,000 rubles. We flew with Turkish, where, compared to Aeroflot, there are simply first-class aircraft and service.

In addition, we had a transit in Istanbul and nine hours between flights, so in front of the capital of India we managed to walk around the capital of Turkey.

With the city of departure, everything is the same: we are looking for inexpensive tickets back home or to the next country. We found tickets for 11,000 rubles from Indian city Chennai to Singapore (I love this country!).

I forgot to say that if you are making an electronic visa to India via the Internet, then the airports of arrival and departure should be included in the list, where this electronic visa is put on arrival and closed upon departure from the country.

3. Major attractions

1. New Delhi (capital)

In the capital of India, we did not plan to stay for a long time, we just wanted to know what it is. main city country. Therefore, we visited two temples (there are much more of them) and walked along the streets of Delhi - everything took 2 days.

In general, the city made an indelible impression on me, during these two days I was just shocked by everything that was happening around: from food, from dirt, from cows, from people staring at you, from hotels, from lack of service, from policemen with sticks and much more.

The first temple we visited is:

3. Taj Mahal (Agra city)

People go to Agra for the sake of this temple. Besides him, you can also visit the fort. There is nothing else to do in the city: it is rather dirty, and in some places even scary.

4. Varanasi

At first we planned to visit this sacred city... But after the previous three cities, we decided that the sight of burning corpses, the dirty river Ganges and other such delights would be too serious a test for us.

Therefore, we decided to take a shortcut on our route. What they later regretted.

So Varanasi is one of the reasons why I want to return to India again.

5. Ajanta

There are caves with drawings and various images, carved into the rocks.

At first we wanted to visit this place, however, on the way, we realized that it would not be very easy to get there and decided to limit ourselves to other caves, which are presented in the next paragraph.

6. Aurangabad (Ellora caves)

Tourists come to this small town for the sake of Ellora - a city carved into the rock:

7. Mumbai

Mumbai (formerly called Bombay) is the former capital of India. It is one of the most amazing and beautiful Indian cities.

The city center is filled with European-style buildings, as the British and Portuguese previously ruled here.

City embankment:

The largest slums in the world are also located here. We did not go deep into them, walked along the edge:

City train:

We were in Mumbai for only two days. And I would like to come back here again to:

  1. visit Bollywood and take part in the extras of some Indian film;
  2. visit the largest laundry in India (we only saw a glimpse of it from the train window).

8. Colva (state of Goa)

There are plenty of beaches in India, however, the most acceptable for relaxation and swimming of all that we have visited were in Goa.

In the town of Candolim visited:

9. Alleppey (Kerala state)

Kerala is the nicest Indian state we've visited. The city of Alleppey (or the middle name of Alapuja) is often called the Indian Venice for the network of canals along which they ply river trams, tourist boats and houseboats (houses on the water).

Tame Eagles in Coastal Cafes:

10. Kochi (Kerala state)

Highly a nice place... The only negative is that you cannot swim, very dirty beaches and water. You need to go to a remote beach.

There are many interesting things in this city. Chinese fishing nets: old technology still used today.

Green house:

There is a spice and oil factory, several museums. This is where we found pictures from Russia:

An Indian laundry, which is still used for hand washing and ironing with huge iron irons:

The peninsula has a huge number of museums, galleries, art cafes and antique shops:

Catholic temple:

11. Varkala (Kerala State)

As I said, Kerala is the cleanest and nicest state in India. However, it lacks decent beaches which are in Goa. Most often there is an ocean entrance to the sea: very steep and with big waves.

And Varkala boasts wide and gentle beaches. And I am very sorry that we did not reach this city.

12. Kanyakumari

The most southern point India, and just for this we wanted to visit her. But during the trip, the desire to go to this place just for the sake of "so it was" somehow disappeared.

13. Chennai

This is the same city from which we went to Singapore. In principle, we just came to it for this. Chennai is very similar to the capital Delhi, only it is very hot here and the city is located on the seashore.

Here the beach strip reaches 400 meters. The entrance to the sea is very steep.

4. Route map

As a result, we made the following route:

And this map shows the places that we would like to visit additionally:

Namely:

  • would like to visit the north of New Delhi to see the mountains;
  • Varanasi is a sacred city;
  • Kolkata is the cultural capital of India;
  • Varkala - great beaches and it should be much cleaner there than in Goa because this is Kerala.

Dear readers, I will end here. I am sure that there are many more interesting and unusual places, so if you have any suggestions, write about them in the comments.

I forgot to tell you that we traveled around India on trains that are very cheap, and sometimes you can travel on them for free. ...

I wish you interesting journeys... And I have everything for today. Thank you for attention.

Bye everyone!

Your Lena Iskhakova

! For 365 days, multi!
For citizens of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the full cost with all fees = 8200 rbl.
For citizens of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia = 6900 rbl

Here I will briefly describe those routes in India that I have personally passed. You can take these routes as a basis, remove some of them, add something based on your preferences.

  • The first is the choice of the season for your trip. India is very stretched from north to south and from west to east. And when it's hot in the south, there may still be snow in the north. You also need to take into account the rainy season.
    (Read about this:)
  • The second is personal preference. India is very diverse, each state is different from the other. One region is famous for the abundance of ancient temples, the other - nice beaches, the third - with palaces, the fourth - with monasteries, etc. So the route can be designed for every taste.
  • You should not try to cram several regions into one short vacation at once, because half of the vacation will be spent on moving, which is not rational. It is better to choose one region, or two adjacent ones.
  • Moving is better to do at night (for and), so as not to waste precious daytime on moving.
  • The route can be looped back, i.e. fly home from the same city in which he flew. But there is another way - to fly to one city (for example, to Delhi), and fly home from another (for example, from Mumbai), and lay your route between these cities.

Conditionally (very conditionally) we will divide all routes in India into North, Center and South.

Routes in the north of India

1. Chardham in the Indian Himalayas
This is a pilgrimage route in the state of Uttarakhand.

The four main sacred points route: - - Kedarnath - Badrinath.

From each point, you can make radial tracks to the mountains. For example, from Gangotri go for 2-3 days to;
from Yamunotri - to the Saptarishi Kund lake (the source of the Yamuna);
from Kedarnath - to Lake Gandhi Sarovar or to the source of Mandakini;
from Badrinath to the foot of Mount Nilkant.
If you have time, you can include the Valley of Flowers in the route and;
and Tungnat;
a walk to the Deorital lake;
the city (where Bagirati and Alaknanda merge to form the Ganges);
and of course also Rishikesh and Haridwar.
Duration: 18-20 days (if you take only the basic points of Yamunotri - Gangotri - Kedarnath - Badrinath). If you expand this route with the branches described above, then you need to lay a month or more.
in spring - May-June;
in autumn - September-October.

2. Route in Himachal
This route lies in the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Route branch:
Delhi - Shimla - Kullu Valley - Parvati Valley - Banjar Valley - Menri Monastery - Shimla - Delhi

From Delhi to Shimla we get through Kalka:
Delhi - Kalka (train),
.
Valley of Kullu (valley of the gods): Manali, Naggar (the estate of the Roerichs and Krishna temple), Bijli Mahadev temple;
valley of Parvati: Manikaran, Kasol, Jari, Mateura,;
Banjar Valley: Djibi, Chaini, Jalori Pass, Balu Temple, Saleur Lake.

Duration: three weeks.
Best time for this route: May-June and August-September. Although I went to Himachal in March-April, and it was also very good (however, in the Banjar valley I had to walk in the rain, in Naggar I had to chatter my teeth at night from the cold, and in Khirgang we were covered with snow, but it was still very cool: -))

3. Route in Ladakh
Highly interesting route in the north of India by (state of Jammu and Kashmir).
Ladakh is highlighted in red on the map.

Ladakh is located at an altitude of more than three thousand meters beyond the Great Himalayan Range and does not resemble the rest of India in either landscape or culture. It is called "Little Tibet".

You can get to this region either by plane or along the high mountain routes from Manali or Srinagar. Is a separate very beautiful adventure. It is better to leave this adventure on the way back, but initially it is better to fly to Le by plane (this is my belief, which I substantiate in).

Duration of the route: 4 weeks.
The best time: from June to October.

Attention! Before planning a trip to this region, you need to find out what the situation is in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (is there a war there).

Central India route

This route is designed for approximately 5 weeks. It starts in Delhi and ends in Mumbai.
Covers the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa.

Duration: three weeks.
Best time for this route: November - February.

————————————————
