Ubud in Bali - what to see? or a travel itinerary for independent. How to go on an independent trip to Bali: useful life hacks Interesting routes Bali program

Most tourists stay in Bali in the city Kuta where nothing but high prices and crowds of tourists, they are not expected. Real Bali opens up to those who are not afraid to discover it for themselves! Therefore, for the sake of the most vivid impressions grab your bike and drive around the island! And from me a proven route through the main attractions of the island.

But first ... Saddle the iron horse. How to rent a bike in Bali?

You can rent the most popular transport in Bali at every step (the best option is at your hotel). 4 days rental and petrol cost on average 50 dollars... And the most popular and versatile model Honda vario(I advise you to take it).

Formally, to drive a bike in Bali, an international driver's license is required, but in fact, you can drive not only without a license (checked personally!), But even without knowing the rules road traffic(also checked!).

Although the rules exist in Bali, in reality they are not enforced at all. But this does not mean that hell is happening on the roads of the island. I personally, a person with no driving experience and no knowledge of the rules, managed to drive around the island for 4 days without a single accident. So do not drift, but also be careful!

Extremely bad advice: if you are driving without a license and the police suddenly decided to stop you, just drive by, pretending that you did not notice them. There is a 99% probability that no one will chase you. And if they chase and catch up, just stick it in their hand 50 thousand Indonesian rupees (approximately 4 dollars) and go on quietly. Luckily for you, the police in Bali are terribly corrupt 🙂

Gasoline in Bali is also inexpensive. You can find it in any wilderness, both at standard gas stations, and at the roadside in alcohol bottles (and you can buy one without any problems).

And now the route through the most impressive places on the island:

Stop One - Spiritual: Uluwatu Temple

ULUWATU- one of the most important Balinese shrines, located on an incredibly picturesque cliff with a height of 80 meters... Entrance to almost all temples in Bali paid. But the price is symbolic everywhere: 2-4 dollars. To enter the temples, men and women will need sarong(similar to a long skirt), which can either be bought or rented at the entrance.

The temple itself, for all its importance to the Balinese, is unlikely to impress you. But the view that opens from there is, in fact, breathtaking (especially during sunset). Walk along the cliff, meditate in one of the pagodas of the temple and drive on happily.

Advice: watch out for the monkeys! In this temple, they take personal belongings from tourists with special pleasure. And do not go to the ritual in the evening dance Kecak taking place in the temple. In truth, there is nothing special about it. Spend your money and time.

A stop no less spiritual: the Tanakh Lot Temple

Tanakh Lot or "Earth in the middle of water" Is another temple worth getting to. It is interesting because it is located on a rock standing in the ocean, and you can get to it only at low tide. You will not be able to enter the temple itself (it is closed to the public), but for a small donation you can go through a small Balinese rite at the foot of the temple, where you will be sprinkled with water, read some prayers, put a flower behind your ear and draw a dot on your forehead ... Someone calls these rituals cheating for the sake of money. But be that as it may, it is still pleasant to think that you are now under the auspices of the Balinese spirits.

The further path from Kuta inland is most convenient to keep to the cultural capital of Bali - Ubud city(you can also spend the night there). You can hardly call Ubud a city in our understanding, but rather a village with private houses mixed with rice fields. And it is called the cultural capital because of the large concentration of artists and artisans with their workshops.

Advice: Cafes and restaurants in popular Bali cities are not cheap. To save on food, look into the so-called "Varungi"- a cafe where locals eat. The interior in Warungs is simpler than Michelin-starred restaurants, but the food is tasty and inexpensive.

Ubud city

* Here you can find cheap tickets to Bali *

Cognitive stop: Tegallalang Rice Terraces

The beautiful rice terraces that dot the entire island are one of the main attractions in Bali. A Tegallalang located just half an hour from Ubud, the most popular among tourists. If you have never seen rice grown before, it will be interesting for you to walk along the narrow path between the terraces. Just wear comfortable shoes!

Mystical stop: Gunung Kawi

This place is famous for the royal burials carved into the rock. A little enigmatic and even sinister(especially in rainy weather), it will definitely remind you of episodes from Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. Gunung Kawi is called one of the "Places of power" in Bali, so it is worth coming there to wander through the mysterious landscapes and feel (or not feel) the magical energy of this island.

Zoological stop: Monkey Forest

Even if you have never had a special love for monkeys, you should still stop by for a couple of hours in the monkey forest. First, it's incredible beautiful dense cool forest with amazing vegetation. And secondly, the monkeys are still cute there.

Life hack: There are two ways to get into the forest for free: either just come after 6 pm (but, in truth, it gets scary in the evening), or find a free entrance on the road connecting Jl. Monkey Forest and Jl. Nyuh Kuning.

Advice: carefully keep track of personal belongings(jewelry, glasses, cameras, etc.) and don't try to take away found in monkeys food... These creatures biting(alas, also tested in practice).

Peaceful stop: Lake Beratan

On the third day of your trip to Bali, you will probably already be convinced that if there is any attraction on the island, then it is necessarily sacred and magical. And so on Lake Beratan there is a small but very important temple for the Balinese Ulun Danu. Nothing ignorant of the world of spirits will simply love this lake and temple for its beauty and harmony.

The most impressive stop: Sekumpul Falls

If you haven't made it to Sekumpul Falls, consider you flew to Bali in vain. I will immediately make a reservation that there are a lot of waterfalls in Bali, and on the way to the city of Singaraja there are two more: Git-git and nung-nung(original names :). But in truth, after Sekumpul, they are unlikely to impress you. The road to Sekumpul waterfalls is long and difficult: into fog and along a mountain serpentine. And then another fifteen minutes on foot, but it's worth it!

Advice: If you weren't planning to get wet while standing next to the falls, bring a raincoat with you. And also be sure to wear comfortable shoes (slates, flip flops will definitely not work). There are no convenient paths, and you will have to wade along narrow paths or wade through water obstacles. Here you will definitely feel like a real traveler.

The main thing: looking at the main and most big waterfall from below, go back a little and find the path leading to the very top of the waterfall, and be sure to get there for the stunning views. And then, don't be like many loser tourists and don't miss three more stunning waterfalls, to the right of the main one (there is a pointer there). By the way, if you have long dreamed of swimming in a real waterfall in a real jungle, this is where your dream should come true. You only need throw away all fears!

Advice: plan at least three hours climbing these falls.

Many people believe that travel is very expensive and requires exorbitant amounts of money. In general, this is the case with the classic tourist approach - when you use the services of travel agencies, live in tourist places, eat in establishments designed for tourists, use the services of expensive guides, excursions, and so on.

However, everything will change as soon as you start practicing an independent approach - find out how and where the locals live, where they buy food and things, learn the basic basics of the local language. Then a fascinating road of independent travel will be open for you, which always turn out to be much more interesting and many times more budgetary.

How much does a visa to Bali cost?

The first question that we will have to solve when we find ourselves in Bali is the visa. Russian citizens can fly to Bali, put a stamp at passport control and stay in Indonesia for 30 days - it's completely free.

If we feel that the month is not enough for us to explore the island, and it is likely that it will be so, we can get the so-called “Visa on arrival”. This does not require anything special, except for payment. visa fee at the ticket office, in the same place at the airport. The fee is $ 35. After we get a visa in our passport, we will be able to stay in Bali for the same 30 days, but with one big caveat - the visa can be extended at the immigration office for another 30 days - that is, in total, our stay in Indonesia can be already two months (60 days).

To extend the visa upon arrival, you will have to go to the immigration office in Denpasar 3 times. First time - to submit documents. The second time is for a photo, fingerprints and payment of a fee ($ 27). Well, and the third, respectively, to obtain a passport with an extended visa.

Transport from the airport and back

When you pass passport control and go out into the common area, a whole crowd of obsessive taxi drivers will pounce on you, who will offer to take you anywhere. If you are in Bali for the first time and you do not have the skills to bargain, it is better not to mess with them. An adequate price for a taxi from the airport to Ubud is 200,000 Indonesian rupiahs ($ 15), and they can offer 300 or even 400 thousand.

From the experience of travelers, according to the Uber counter, the cost of a trip from Ngurah Rai Airport to Ubud will be in the region of 150,000 rupees ($ 11.5).

Long term rental in Bali

If we want to live on a budget and for a long time, there is no point in wasting time looking for housing in advance on the Internet. All you need to do is book an inexpensive guesthouse for the first 2-3 days. This can be done using a hotel aggregator, which compares prices for different sites and shows the most profitable ones. So, a night in a simple guesthouse in Ubud will cost $ 13-15.

What is it for and why exactly 2-3 days? Because that's how much it usually takes independent searches housing on long term, and while you are doing this, you need to live somewhere!

  1. You decide on the area where you want to live. It is almost impossible to find something budgetary in tourist places, so you need to look for an area further from the center.
  2. Rent a bike. But not for 2-3 days, but immediately for the entire period of stay in Bali. More details about bikes will be in the next section of the article.
  3. Riding a bike to the selected area and looking for a suitable housing option.

How to look for housing? The best way is to just walk into every courtyard and ask if there are rooms or houses for rent. There is nothing wrong with that, the Balinese are very welcoming and friendly, they will be happy to talk to you. If you are told that nothing is giving up, you can ask about their friends or neighbors, it is very likely that they have something. Or just ask in which direction it is better to go for further searches. A simple rule works here - the more you communicate and ask, the more options appear and the more actively the search for housing progresses.

If you are on a bike and can easily and quickly move around, then you will easily find yourself a home in 1 day, and maybe even in 2-3 hours.

As for the cost - a good room with air conditioning can be rented per month for $ 185-200. If you are confident that you can do without an air conditioner, the cost can drop to $ 140-150. This article is about budget travel, so we won't cover houses and villas here.

Rent a bike in Bali

There is nowhere in Bali without a bike, as without hands. No, you can of course try, as we did, but we only lasted for one week, after which we left this torment. There is no public transport, you will not be able to travel to a store or market by bus. There is only a taxi, but this is not about budget travel... Therefore, in order to look for housing, buy food, travel to temples, beaches and waterfalls, you will need a motorbike!

The cost of a daily bike rental is $ 4, the cost of a monthly rental is $ 45. The two most popular models in Bali are the Honda Vario and the Honda Scoopy. To rent you do not need anything except a passport, you will not be asked for a license. Before entering into a contract, be sure to check the brakes and wheels, and also take pictures of all scratches and scuffs on the body. Also, be sure to ask for a helmet, and if there are two of you, then two helmets, this is included in the rental price.

The following precautions should be observed when riding your bike. First, always wear a helmet. This is not only mandatory by the rules, but also your own safety.

Officially, driving a bike in Bali requires an international category A license, but in reality this is not so strict and many people move without the necessary documents.

Gasoline in Bali costs 8,000 rupees (0.6 $) per liter. We recommend refueling at large gas stations, they are called Pertamina, because street vendors selling bottled gasoline tend to dilute it with water. Even with active movements around the island on a bike, you are unlikely to spend more than $ 15 per month on fuel. Let's put another $ 3 in our budget for parking, it is paid here in many places, it costs 1000-2000 rupees (0.07 $ - 0.14 $).

How much does food cost in Bali

In Bali, you can eat very cheaply at local cafes, which are called warung here. The key word here is locals. Tourist establishments on tourist streets and near well-known attractions do not belong to those, there is nothing for a budget traveler to do!
Local cafes look unremarkable outwardly, they are located in places where ordinary tourists rarely go and speak there, as a rule, only the local language of Bahasa. However, if you have a bike, then you can easily get to such a warung in a few minutes, and having learned the main names of local dishes, you can easily navigate in choosing a menu.

In a local cafe, one solid dish costs 10,000 rupees ($ 0.75). As you can see, the price is very, very attractive! Here are the main names for local dishes:

  • Nasi putih (regular boiled rice).
  • Nasi goreng (fried rice with vegetables and tofu / tempeh).
  • Mie goreng (fried noodles with vegetables and tofu / tempeh).
  • Nasi campur (regular boiled rice with several additions - vegetables, tofu, tempeh, etc.).
  • Gado-gado (a mixture of vegetables and tofu / tempeh with peanut sauce).
  • Plecing kankung (spinach with a very hot sauce).

In addition to inexpensive cafes, Bali has excellent inexpensive fruits and vegetables. You need to buy them not in supermarkets (where they are much more expensive and often unripe), but in local markets. The markets in the local language are called pasar and are open from 4 am to 8 am. There you can buy papaya, watermelon, pineapple, tangerine, pomelo, dragon fruit, mangosteen, cucumber, tomato, corn, and many other fruits and vegetables. Here's a rough order of prices:

  • Papaya and watermelons - 8,000 rupees per kilogram ($ 0.6).
  • Pineapples - 7000 rupees apiece ($ 0.5).
  • Mangosteen, dragon fruit, mandarins: 15,000 rupees per kilogram ($ 1.1).

Entertainment

In the most modest scenario, you can, of course, limit yourself to movements on a bike, but we want to see the places where you have to pay for admission, right?

Here are the prices entrance tickets to some sights:

  • White Sand Beach in Chandidas - 5,000 rupees ($ 0.4).
  • Nung Nung Falls - 10,000 rupees ($ 0.75).
  • Monkey Forest in Ubud - 50,000 rupees ($ 3.75).

And the prices of some popular entertainment:

  • Balinese massage, 1 hour - 80,000 rupees ($ 6).
  • Climbing Mount Batur with a guide (in a group of 4 people) - 125,000 rupees ($ 9.5).

Bali and some other islands in Indonesia are a paradise for surfers from all over the world. Surfing in Bali is not just a sport, it is a certain way of life. Here you can catch your the best wave, no matter if you are a beginner or a professional. The Island of the Gods is home to world famous surf spots such as Padang Padang, Uluwatu, Dreamland, etc.

Taking surf lessons will cost an average of $ 50 to $ 65 per lesson and from $ 260 to $ 380 for 10-14 days, depending on the school in which you plan to study.

Rent of boards is usually provided up to 2-3 hours, this time is enough for you to have no more energy left for further immersion in the water. Services such as renting a surfboard in Bali will cost about $ 4.
If, after a few lessons, you already have a good command of the board management skills, then, of course, it is more profitable to rent boards in Bali, for a longer period, a month or more. In addition, in the case of a long term, there is always a discount. For a month, you can give away with a discount of only $ 100.

When is surfing season in Bali?

Surfing season in Bali all year round! Unlike other countries, here you can find waves absolutely at any time. In addition, all schools always adjust their programs to where and in what place the waves are better at a given moment, for example, in the winter months, when it is not very good in Kut, students are taken to Nusa Dua or Serangan. You don't need to worry about it, your instructor will think it over for you.

If you are a self-riding surfer, consider the following:

  • surf spots * Kutas "work" all year round, except for periods when the water is too dirty - this can happen from December to February;
  • during the rainy season (December-March), the waves on the surf spots of the southwest are not suitable, that is, there is no point in going for a drive to Canggu at this time; while Nusa Dua and Serangan (near Sanur) have excellent waves and there are places for beginners, as well as for intermediate and advanced;
  • from April to November, you can ride in Kuta and Canggu on the Batu Bolong and Oldman spots.

For a long time I had a desire to go for a few days in Bali and get to its northern coast, but things didn’t work out, a lot of things and a constant lack of time in every possible way prevented such a trip. Therefore, preparing for a vacation in Bali in the summer of 2013, we have allocated three days for such a trip without fail! And now, I will try to tell you what we did.

And so, the trip was in the plans, and when our friends living in Bali, Andrey and Natasha, said that they were also going to ride around the island, we decided not to postpone it for a long time. And then one of the beautiful Balinese evenings we gathered on the large and cozy balcony of our villa, code-named "Deer" (I'll tell you about this wonderful place sometime) to draw up a travel itinerary. Of course, it will not be possible to go around the entire island during this time, and we have chosen the main places that must be seen in Bali. This is our route:

It started from Ubud.

We all have already been here, but we have not seen everything, so on the first day we decided to visit the temples located near Ubud:, the temple and, after which the night awaited us in Great hotel Mountain View, located in the heart of the island, at the foot of the majestic Agung volcano.

Goa Gajah Elephant Cave. Bali

On the second day, the plans were the most main temple Bali Islands, located on the slopes of Agung.
And the temple.
Further our path lay on the northern coast and Lovina beach, here we wanted to see. And for spending the night they chose one unusual one.

On the final day of the trip, the road lay back towards Kuta through hot springs in, a waterfall and lakes Tambligan, Buyan and the well-known Bratan with a temple on the lake, but running ahead I will say that after stopping at the waterfall, we passed the lakes already when it was dark and did not stop.

Sekumpul waterfall. Bali island

In addition to all this, on the way there were many beautiful views: this is the famous rice terraces, and a stunning sunrise overlooking the Agung volcano, my favorite panorama of the Batur volcano and much, much more!

The next thing to decide was what to drive around the island. There were no problems with this, we chose the car quickly, we go to the Suzuki APV Arena.

In our opinion, this is one of the most convenient cars for moving around the island. It is relatively small in size, but at the same time it quite comfortably fits 7 people, and there were only four of us. We didn’t have to run around the "rent cars", Andrey called our friend the Balinese Whiskey, and he said that he would send us a car in the morning, on the day of departure.
Hurray, everything is ready, it's a day to get ready and the day after tomorrow we will leave!

There are no regular direct flights to Bali. There are only charters from Transaero from Moscow, but we were not satisfied with the price. We managed to buy tickets for a discount from Thai Airways, however, we had to make a connection in Bangkok, and our flight was somewhat delayed. Excellent service and comfortable chairs made up for all the inconveniences. Denpasar met us with a light rain, although the rainy season ended long ago, it was an episodic phenomenon.

Transport

There is almost no public transport in Bali. A taxi ride costs about $ 5-7. It is much more profitable to travel on a scooter, which can be rented for the whole day for the same money. For long, long trips around the island, a car is more suitable. The price depends on its condition and brand. You can always bargain. There is no need to leave a deposit. A driver's license is required, you also need to provide a phone number and name the hotel where you are staying.

Kuta is the center of life

We lived in Kuta. This area includes several settlements: Tuban, Legian, Seminak-Kerobokan and Kuta proper. This is the most popular place on the island. Our hotel was called Best Western Kuta Villa. Small, cozy, clean, tidy with Balinese style rooms and just 10 minutes walk from restaurants, shops and stalls. Trade is brisk there. Sellers do not hesitate to impose their goods at an inflated price, so we always bargained. It was easy to cut the price by half.

From Kuta we went to Ubud. The excursion was not taken, as the price seemed inadequate to us. We paid off the hotel, rented a dead jeep and set off on a trip to Bali.

Ubud is located in the interior of the island. Green hills rice fields, jungle and mountain river can compete beach vacation... An ancient city is located here. A visit there is The best way understand Balinese culture. Craftsmen and musicians live in almost every house. You can visit a wood carving center, a jewelry gallery, a workshop where fabrics are painted, a local market. The level of the local hotels cannot be called high yet, but this is hardly a serious drawback. Although there are real masterpieces with “endless” pools in the crowns of trees.

Almapura and Candidasa

The next stop was in Almapura. This architectural gem located on the east coast.

The road to it goes through rice fields and palm groves. We stopped in the village of Candidasa. Quite tourist place with nice prices, because there is no normal beach here. In some places there are strips of sandy-pebble coast. There are catamarans "parked" on the water, which are taken out to sea for swimming or snorkeling. I managed to find budget housing... By the way, most of the villas are equipped with a swimming pool, which, according to the idea, should compensate for the lack of a beach. Restaurant prices are obscenely cheap. I was very impressed by the lotus lake. It is impossible to pass by and not admire the beauty of nature.

Turning a couple of times in the wrong direction, we finally got to Almapura.

Long ago, the city of Almapura was the capital of the kingdom of Karangasem, which fell into disrepair when the Dutch arrived on the island. It should be noted that the colonialists behaved with restraint, so that most of the palaces have survived to this day. True, only Puri Agun is open for visiting - the residence of the rulers. An intricately carved gate leads to the courtyard, where several buildings are located. The territory of the park is very picturesque; there is a pond in its center.

Lovina

I persuaded my husband to go to Lovina, although it was not very convenient and not planned. Lovina is one of the most picturesque regions buried in flowers. Local beaches are notable for black volcanic sand... We took a boat trip to see dolphins and also visited hot springs.

If you do not go into the details of our movements, I would also like to note the Besakih Temple, located in the northeast. It is the largest Hindu temple in Bali and is also called the mother of all temples. The complex occupies 6 levels and consists of 20 structures, each of which symbolizes a certain deity.

The volcano Batur made a huge impression. It is one of the most attractive points of the island. The fact that the volcano is active is seriously nerve-wracking. You can get to the top of the giant on your own, or as part of an excursion group. We preferred the second option. The rise began at 4 am to catch a stunning sunrise. A colorful view opens up from the top.

Beaches

The beaches on the island are municipal, with the exception of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran, there are private beaches at hotels. In general, the beaches are clean, there is everything you need. Kuta is quite crowded, on its southern end you can watch planes take off and land, since there is an airport nearby. Legian is a quieter place.

Surfing

Bali is a Mecca for surfers from all over the world. This is not just a sport, but an art. I’ve only seen this on TV before. Naturally, my husband and I did not take part in the water exercises, but only watched. Most of the extreme are on Dreamland, Uluwatu, Padang-Padang, Binjin and the southern tip of the Bukit Peninsula.

Diving

We could not refuse diving. The best place for this is in the village of Tulamben in the northeast. Not on land - Volcano Agung, many exotic inhabitants and emerald jungle, under water - bizarre marine life and a sunken ship. The descent into the water is very comfortable.

Food and restaurants

It is impossible to stay hungry in Bali. Local restaurants offer dishes from all cuisines of the world. The prices are quite reasonable. Regular guests are greeted with joyful smiles. Most of all we liked the restaurant in Kuta Totemi. The menu is extensive and the staff are friendly. If you miss European fast food, it can be found in abundance in large shopping centers, for example in "Discovery".

Night life

Some streets in Bali are full of bars and clubs. Every day, music thunders in them and crowded with people. The nightlife center is located in Kuta on Legian Street. We liked SkyGarden the most. This is a versatile institution. Music of a certain format is played on each of several floors. During the evening, you can change location.

Surfers and hip-hop fans love to visit Eikon. The Hard Rock Cafe offers live music from 23.00 to 2.00. The Anantara has a Sos Club with a panoramic bar. On the comfortable and spacious sofas, you can admire the Seminyak coastline.

Spa

It would be a crime to visit Bali and not soak up the spa. There are massage salons that call themselves spas, but have little relation to this service, but there are real salons where you can relax your body and soul. I went to The Body Spa in Kuta. Ordered three hours of stone therapy, which cost nearly $ 80.

Bali - perfect place... We will come to the island again, because there are so many places left that we have not yet seen.

This fabulous island attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. Surfers come here for high waves, designers and creatives for inspiration, office workers - to relax on beaches and in spas. Is it possible to fly to Bali on your own? Of course yes. It is not at all necessary to use the services of a travel agency.

A nice bonus only for our readers is a discount coupon when paying for tours on the site before August 31:

  • AF500guruturizma - a promo code for 500 rubles for tours from 40,000 rubles

Traveling "on its own" will cost 40 percent less. Only a number of questions arise: how to get there, what documents need to be drawn up, whether you need a visa, where to stay, which excursions to go on, which beach to choose. This guide will help you answer all these and other questions.

To travel to Bali, you need to get a visa. You can issue it directly after arrival at the airport for $ 25. The waiting time will be 30 minutes. Or you can get to the Indonesian Embassy in the Russian Federation in advance and solve the visa issue there. In addition to a visa, a tourist will need a passport.

Which resort to choose

The question is very relevant for everyone who decided to fly to Bali. Which resort to choose? Tour operators help to quickly select a voucher based on the requirements and wishes of the client, because they are specialists in the field of tourism. If you go to the island on your own, then there is often no one to tell you which part of the island to go to and which hotel to choose. We'll have to read numerous reviews of "seasoned" travelers.

Using them, you can make a general idea of \ u200b \ u200bthe resorts and hotels, get information of interest. It will be necessary to "search" a bunch of sites. You can spend a lot of free time on searches. If there is one, great. If not, then you should use the information below. They contain helpful information about places where you can relax in Bali.

Kuta

A resort center where young people "hang out" and tourists actively relax. It is the most famous large resort on the island. You can get to it by taxi from Ngurah Rai Airport. Travel time is no more than 15 minutes. A cheaper option is to take the bus. The beaches of Kuta cannot be considered clean, at least compared to Nusa Dua.

Fans of a fun-filled nightlife will love it here. There are plenty of bars and clubs in Kuta. You can leave one and go to the other. Lanterns are lit on the streets at night. There are bars where you can watch a movie. A trip to the Waterboom Park water park will be a good entertainment. You can also go shopping. In the resort, some markets are open even at night.

Silence reigns in Sanur, unlike other places for recreation. It is far from here to get to Kuta. This resort is not famous for entertainment until dawn. After ten o'clock in the evening, you will hardly meet anyone on the street. The atmosphere here is the most suitable to be able to spend a vacation in a relaxed atmosphere.

Ubud

Organic food and yoga enthusiasts gather in Ubud. Those who want to eat healthy sandwiches and talk about meditation and clearing karma stop here. By the way, in this secluded place in the jungle, the film “Eat. Pray. Love ”, which quickly gained popularity after its release.

In Ubud, you can watch the national trance dance. The ticket price for such a spectacle is about $ 6. This resort offers homestay accommodation for as little as $ 10 / night. This is the minimum price. To relieve boredom, you should go to a local spa center for a massage, go to the village of Kintamani to look at coffee plantations and admire the Batur volcano. The Antonio Blanco Museum cannot be ignored. It was founded by a Spanish artist who settled in Bali.

These are the main resorts of Bali. Which one to choose is up to you. You can generally live in different parts of the island. This is the best of all options. You can stick to the following program, arriving on the island of paradise.

Day 1

Seminyak

For those who are accustomed to having fun outside the house, it is better to start with Seminyak. Hanging out there will turn out one hundred percent. After a memorable fun, you should think about something more interesting, which will bring new knowledge and add impressions. We must go on the first excursion.

Java island

A great solution is to fly to Java island. It is located outside the resort itself. The tour will cost a lot (about $ 300) .This must be taken into account first of all. But if funds allow, then Java should be visited. There are many temples on this most wonderful island: Borobudur, Mendut, Pavon. They are distinguished by their unique architectural style and special flavor. After studying all the most remarkable information and details about the structures, the legs, obviously, get tired. You will need to take a break, so that then again with renewed vigor, go for vivid emotions.

Grab a bite to eat at the local restaurant, which serves hearty meals. Lunch is included in the tour price. Just remember that the food on the island is mostly very peppery. If someone loves to taste food with fire, then in Java it will work out. For those who do not particularly prefer spicy foods, it is better to eat more rice and drink more water. After having lunch and gaining strength, we must go again. Where? To the Prambanan Hindu Temple. This structure is amazing at just one look at it from the outside. What can we say about the interior decoration! The beauty in Prambanan is indescribable.

It is difficult to write about it, it must be seen. One gets the impression that the temple is a creation not made by hands. It is hard to believe that such a wonderful architectural building could have been designed by a man. It's one thing to come up with and think over all the details of the design, and quite another - to embody all this. After admiring Prambanan, it is planned to return to Bali. The day will come to an end, it will be necessary to go to bed, not staying up late. Otherwise, the next day it will be difficult to get ready for a new excursion.

Day 2

Taman Ayun

You can start your sightseeing day from Taman Ayun. This is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. It is located in a park where century-old trees grow and amaze with their splendor clean ponds... Before entering the temple, you must cross the bridge. The path leads to a fountain built according to the symbolism. The number of jets (there are 9 of them) is equal to the number of Balinese gods. The jets are directed in different directions according to the principle of the location of the cardinal points. Further, the path will lead to a more luxurious courtyard of the temple.

Lake Bratan

After Taman Ayun, you can go to the very heart of the island, to Lake Bratan. It is considered sacred. The lake is located on a once extinct volcano.

Local residents use the water from it for cooking and for other purposes. Without him, they would have had a hard time. The nature around the lake is unusually clean. Many tourists believe that this is the most best lake on Bali. It's quiet and cool here. You can watch the clubs of incense distributed by the Balinese during religious rites.

Ulun Danu Temple

Here is the Ulun Danu Temple, which fascinates with the unusual structures of which it consists. You can go to Botanical Garden... Just don't think that it is full of tropical evergreens. The garden is more like an ordinary park in central Russia. Therefore, if there is no extra time and money, then it is better to go somewhere else. On this, perhaps, day trips should be interrupted for a while.

Hike Mount Agung

If you want something unusual and mega-memorable, then at night you should definitely make a hike to Mount Agung. One must mentally prepare oneself for it in advance. The path is not easy. In the evening, you need to have a good dinner and lie down for a couple of hours, even better - take a nap. As soon as the night approaches, you will have to get ready for the road.

The opportunity to do something unreal arises in the head of every active tourist. So why not? Climbing the mountain peak, which is the highest point in Bali, not everyone can.

Only desperate daredevils can do this. Upon returning home, you will be able to boast of conquering the mountain and your courage. This is a challenge for the strong-minded tourists, but worth it! Emotions overwhelm those who reach the top. It should be noted that it is always cool in the mountains. The farther from the ground, the colder and colder it gets. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to grab a warm jacket.

The closer to the cherished peak, the more difficult it is to climb. Strength becomes less with every step. But at the end of the path, such a fascinating landscape opens up, which cannot be described in words. One feels freedom and a feeling of boundless happiness. On this ascent, perhaps, it is worth finishing the second day of your stay in Bali. After such an eventful program, it is definitely worth returning to the hotel, where you can pamper yourself with a sound sleep.

Day 3

Rafting on the Telaga river

Do you like rafting? Then in the morning you can get ready to go down the Telaga Waja river. The cost of the rafting is about $ 70. Telaga is a mountain river with a "harsh character". You will have to learn to bypass rapids and waterfalls. In short, only real extremals can embark on such an adventurous voyage. The river will provide explosive emotions, stormy memories with the smallest details from such a descent will not be forgotten for at least a week. Most rafting enthusiasts are delighted with rafting on Telaga.

Before the descent, instructions are given and the necessary uniforms are given: helmets and vests. Tourists are offered a choice of two rafting routes: along the above-mentioned river and the Ayung River, which is very "calm". It is difficult to call it a mountain either. This is not even rafting, but just a walk along the river with the opportunity to view the local landscapes and take wonderful photographs.

It is unlikely that you will be able to take a photo yourself. Here you have to watch out for river "surprises". On such excursions, tourists are filmed by a professional photographer who swims with everyone. We'll have to pay him for the photo disc. But there will be something to show to the family! And it’s better to buy such photos as a keepsake.

Day 4

In the morning it is worth going to the beach to soak up the sun and swim in the warm sea. In the afternoon, if you wish, you need to go on another excursion again. It’s not wasted time lying on a sun lounger! We must try something new, see something incredible. Then the trip will seem not just a trip to Bali, but an unusual adventure.

You can spend the day exploring the water palaces. You can hardly find such structures anywhere. They are located close to each other, in the Karangasem principality. Here everyone will delight their eyes with stunning landscapes and learn what life was like for Balinese rajahs.

Taman Ujung

The elegant palace Taman Ujung used to be the residence of one of the rajas. The complex includes three swimming pools with palaces designed for complete relaxation. The buildings are a mix of local and European architecture. They are cool even on the hottest days due to their location on the surface of the water.

In the 20th century, the temple was partially destroyed by a volcanic eruption and by an earthquake. In 2004, Ujung was renovated. Tourists are given the opportunity to walk around the residence, see the rajah's bedroom.

From the hill, you can admire the splendor of what you see here: rice terraces, Agung volcano and fishing villages will amaze with their irresistibility. Everything in Tirtagangga's palace resembles Ujung. These are reservoirs, fountains, and numerous sculptures.

It is noteworthy that in this place there is a spring that symbolizes the origin of life on earth. At least it is symbolic for the locals. Water is taken from it for rituals and ceremonies. One such excursion per day should be enough. “What to do with yourself?” - the reader will ask.

Shopping

The fourth day of your stay in Bali is perfect for shopping. In a few days, whatever one may say, you will find out where, what and how much. Therefore, let's go shopping! In Bali, you should not buy things a year in advance. It is better to bypass the clothes of famous brands here. It is preferable to make your choice in favor of carved wooden products. If you didn’t take enough dresses or sundresses with you (most of the suitcase is bursting at the seams before the trip, but you still cannot fit everything you want), then you can buy good models in Kuta or Legian.

Walking around the shops and shops will take several hours. To find what you really like, you have to run around and spend precious time. The good news is that it is available and will not be spent in vain. How many pleasant little things await its only buyer in Bali! Those who are still chasing popular clothing brands will find two large shopping centers in Kuta. This is Discovery and Matahari. They are close to each other. But if you want to find something unique, then you should stroll along the numerous streets in search of the dream product. And the purchase will be successful, and the mood will rise.

It is not known whether it will be possible at least once in your life to be on this most wonderful island, to take a leisurely stroll around its surroundings, to admire the unique delights that the tropical island is so rich in. Round off the day with a delicious dinner in a restaurant or cafe. It is difficult to advise a specific place. It all depends on where you live, income level and food preferences. In general, finding a place where they cook well, even if there is not a lot of money, is not a problem.

Day 5

Car for rent

It would be good to spend this day with the maximum benefit for the body and soul. You can start it with an excursion, and then pamper yourself with something pleasant. The choice of excursions is huge, how to prioritize? To see as much interesting and unusual as possible, you can take a car with a driver. Russian-speaking - the best option... He will become both a driver and a guide rolled into one.

If you come across an English-speaking driver, of whom there is an overwhelming majority in Bali, you will have to somehow find a common language with him. The price of the trips is negotiable. For approximately half a day, you can pay about $ 50. As an example - a trip to the south of Bali.

Bali Cultural Park

The first significant attraction is the Bali Cultural Park. The park was recently opened and is still under construction and design work. Despite the unfinished work, there is no shortage of things to see. Once back in the car, you can chat with the driver. If, of course, there is mutual understanding.

Locals eagerly talk about local customs and traditions. For example, you might find out that children in Bali are given their first names in order of priority. The first baby born in the family is called Wayan, the second is named Made, the third is Nyoman, and so on. And the fifth is again named Wayan. Accordingly, many children grow up with the same names. It sometimes takes a long time to distinguish one from the other.

Dreamland beach

After chatting heartily and replenishing your knowledge, you will probably drive up to Dreamland beach. This is one of beautiful places islands. The water on the beach is such an azure color that it is difficult to describe. One drawback is that everything on the beach is paid. This applies to an umbrella, toilet, shower. You shouldn't sit here for a long time.

Uluwatu Temple

The beach is beautiful, but there are other attractions that deserve more attention. In particular, the Uluwatu Temple. It is better to look at it in the daytime, as there are crowds of people here in the morning and in the evening. Many people come to this place for the sunset, which is extraordinarily beautiful. The territory where the temple is located can be entered for 20 rupees.

Tourists in open clothes are not allowed here. You will either have to buy a sarong for rent, or be left unimpressed behind the fence. The most interesting thing is that not only women but also men need to cover bare body parts. Tourists are not allowed inside the temple. But it doesn't matter. In Bali, in general, you can visit a small number of temples as a foreign tourist. It takes some getting used to.

People come to Uluwat for stunning views of nature. The temple is located, one might say, at the end of the world. This is where his wild popularity lies. After admiring, you can return home to rest.

Day 6

SPA programs

In the morning you can go to the beach. In the afternoon, it is better to go to spa treatments or massage. Indonesia ranks high in the spa rankings. It's better here than in Thailand or India. It is imperative to experience how the body slowly relaxes. Fatigue and stress will leave the patient instantly.

Spa staff will help you navigate through the many services provided. In the evening, you should take a walk on the beach along the shore, dream and take photographs as a keepsake. Dinner in a relaxed atmosphere will complement the day as well as possible.

Day 7

The last day in Bali should be spent so that it will be remembered as one of the best. It is worth trying to do everything that was planned. At the end of the rest there should be extremely positive emotions and moments. On this day, it is better not to go on excursions, but to devote yourself to enjoying the warmth and exoticism. Of course, you can't help but go to the beach to swim and sunbathe, and in the evening you should pack your suitcase and, without wasting your last hours in Bali, take a walk through the streets before going to bed.
