Maldives. Beach holidays in the Maldives in hotels with a private beach Beach holidays in the Maldives

Description of rest on these paradise islands in any guidebook it is accompanied by only superlative epithets: "amazing", "luxurious" and "magnificent". Such reviews do not contain exaggeration at all, and even in the photo the Maldives archipelago looks amazingly beautiful and fantastically attractive for a beach holiday. There is everything for this: the pristine beaches, covered with perfect white sand, and the boundless blue of the Indian Ocean, and comfortable hotels, and even entire islands transferred to your sole use for a vacation.

Where to go to sunbathe?

Fabulous views open up already on the approach to the Maldives: the islands in the porthole look like a pearl necklace thrown onto the silky turquoise surface of the ocean. More than a thousand atolls in the archipelago are formed by corals and some of them are separate hotels for a limited number of guests:

  • For those who prefer to relax with children, even in the Maldives, hotels located on one of the thirty islands of the South are suitable.
  • Adu Atoll will please the representatives of the fair half of humanity. Shrubs bloom here especially violently, and photos in vacation albums are full of bright colors and shades. Road to Hell from international airport Male involves crossing the equator, about which the guests of the atoll are issued an appropriate certificate.
  • The islands of the Ari atoll have a chance to turn around for all active travelers. It offers ideal conditions for water sports, diving and windsurfing. Equipment rental is available at every hotel.
  • North Male offers greatest variety in choosing a hotel. There are quite budget hotels, the prices for rooms in which allow to fulfill the dream called "beach vacation in the Maldives" even not the most wealthy tourists.
  • Divers will most like the islands of Lhaviani Atoll, where the colorful underwater world... The reason for this is the various types of corals that form real forests in the purest ocean water.

Blessed Maldives is an amazing place. On the archipelago, everyone can find their own rest and choose a tour, depending on their preferences and material possibilities. In any case, the vacation will be unforgettable and exciting.

Weather features of a beach holiday in the Maldives

The monsoon and subequatorial Maldivian climate determines the weather on the islands, and it largely depends on the direction of the seasonal winds - monsoons. From November to March, they blow from the northeast and bring dry and hot weather, and in spring the wind direction changes to the southwest. At the beginning of summer, the rainy season begins on the archipelago, and until the end of August heavy rainfall falls over the Maldives every day, sometimes turning into rather prolonged rains.
The air temperature stays all year around + 28 ° С, rising to + 32 ° С in late spring and occasionally dropping to + 24 ° С in January in the northern atolls. The breezes make it easy to endure the heat, and therefore it is quite comfortable for both children and adults on the Maldivian beaches.
For diving common on the islands the best time comes in January, when the water becomes especially clear and the bright sun allows you to see everything perfectly, even at a considerable depth.
In June, when the waves rise to 2.5 meters, surfers flock to the archipelago and remain to surf the ocean until autumn.

Living paintings

When choosing where it is better to relax in the Maldives, pay attention to hotels that stand right in the water on stilts or have a transparent floor in the rooms. So you can admire the rich underwater world of the Indian Ocean, even without diving skills. More than a thousand species of fish, more than two dozen species of dolphins and whales, sea turtles, mollusks, crabs and hundreds of other representatives of marine fauna live in the ocean in the archipelago area.
If diving is your old hobby, then the popular underwater Maldivian entertainment looks like this:

  • Seasoned divers prefer the outer terraces and overhangs of the coral reefs. Their feature is strong ocean currents, and therefore beginners should beware of such sites.
  • Novice divers eagerly explore the surface of the coral reefs, facing the interior of the atoll. It's safer, but no less interesting.
  • Wreck fans will be satisfied with wreck dives. The attention of divers will be attracted by: a steamer that sank in the century before last, a fishing trawler covered with coral colonies, and a cargo merchant ship that did not reach its destination due to a severe storm.
  • Fans of nerves will appreciate the underwater neighborhood of sharks and giant stingrays at the Embudu Marine Reserve and at the Miyaru site.

Some atolls have diving training centers and certificates for beginners.

On the crest of a wave

Surfing in the Maldives began to be practiced not so long ago. The archipelago is one of the first places in the world where ideal waves meet, and now, in addition to newlyweds and just lovers, muscular tanned athletes fly here, preferring the ocean elements to any other vacation. It even got to the point that an international surfer tournament is regularly held in the Maldives.
Excellent surfing conditions are ensured by waves of "correct" shape and local control services to ensure that the allowed limit for sailing on a board is not exceeded at a time.

Glowing beach in Maldives

At nightfall, some beaches in the Maldives are illuminated with thousands of bright lights emitting neon light. This phenomenon is called “ glowing beach"Due to the fact that some vacationers here did not expect to see such a bright and unusual glow right along the coast.

The secret behind this amazing picture is that at certain times of the year, the so-called "bioluminescent phytoplankton" develop in the lagoons along the Maldivian beaches, which in a state of excitement (for example, when waves hit them against Sandy shore) starts to glow.

Very often this unusual glow on the beach can be observed from June to February, especially during the new moon. The dark skies make the shimmering light of these microorganisms brightest in almost any of the Maldives' atolls, but seasoned travelers talk about one of the best glowing beaches in the Maldives - Mudhdhoo Island .

What else is important to know about the Maldives and the beaches

Anyone who is going to relax in the Maldives on the beach, it is important to know the following information:

  • About 80% of the land area in the Maldives is covered with sand. Therefore, high-heeled shoes or men's shoes are unlikely to come in handy here. Perhaps for evening events in the most luxurious hotels, where you can walk on a hard surface.
  • When going on an excursion to the island with the local population, dress appropriately - shoulders and knees should be covered with light clothing. Try not to associate with married women for obvious reasons.
  • Fishing in the Maldives is possible only on organized fishing in the presence of an experienced fisherman. Self-fishing is prohibited for tourists. However, you can silently stand on the sidelines and watch the locals go fishing right from the shore.
  • If you decide to go scuba diving, do not rip off or collect fragments of coral and other marine forms life.
  • The Maldives is home to small coastal sharks that will not harm humans. However, it is better not to approach or touch them. As well as stingrays, which can cause serious injury. On the beach, watch your step to avoid stepping on a hermit crab shell or crab.

And in conclusion, I want to show our small video from the beach in the Maldives - a hammock under a palm tree above the sea:

The Maldives is called a paradise from civilization. It is here that you can feel rested by the people. To be alone with yourself, to bounce back after the gray office routine. However, there are some nuances. As well as everywhere else.

The Maldives is far from being an economical place, so before you shell out that kind of money, you should think a few times, but won't you be completely bored there? You will spend all your time on the island, surrounded by palm trees, white sand and the sound of the ocean. There is no tourist infrastructure there. The maximum that you can entertain yourself is with the services provided by your hotel and excursions, which in turn are all related to boat trips or riding a helicopter.

Typical example of a beach in the Maldives

However, if you are not a supporter of active entertainment programs and spectacles, but on the contrary want peace and quiet, then the option is ideal. The Maldives consists of mini islands, each with a maximum of 5 hotels. There are even islands that you can get around in a very short time on foot or by bike.

If we compare this destination with others, for example with Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, then a distinctive feature is that it is exclusively a beach holiday. There are no historical, cultural and educational excursions here. Therefore, if you are going to visit this place with children, answer your question, are you ready to entertain your children during the whole vacation? The maximum that the hotel will offer you is ... read completely

Cost of services and entertainment

What to take with you on vacation?

Better to say what you can't take - alcohol. In no case. Caught, imprisoned.) No kidding. There is a prison on the island, in which those who have been convicted of drinking alcohol are serving time. There are strict Muslim laws here.

Where is the best place to stay?

It all depends on the available budget. Maafushi has plenty to choose from. The cheapest accommodation will be in a guesthouse - the principle is the same as if you rent an apartment or a corner for a while in the private sector. There are very small, there are mini-hotels. The range of prices is large, you can walk around, ask the price. We stayed at the Ethereal three star, double room with one bed. Accommodation for 5 days cost 13 thousand rubles. The room is clean, there is everything you need - toilet, shower, internet, small refrigerator, kettle. There was also a TV, but, of course, we didn't even turn it on. Meals - breakfast only. But at such a price, it is difficult to count on anything more. The shore is near. However, here he is everywhere.

How to entertain yourself at the resort?

The main entertainment here is diving. True, in Dive centers offering services, prices bite. In order to swim, you need to go by boat far from the island, equipment rental, in general, is cool, but expensive. You can go snorkeling - masks and snorkels are offered in hotels. But near the coast, the underwater world is poor, the reefs are dying here. Many excursions to the island resorts. Basically, it's the same everywhere. By and large, the greatest pleasure here is a beach holiday.

The beaches are Muslim. The locals swim in robes. There are specially designated areas for tourists where they can sunbathe, exposing their bodies. Quite not bad beaches, well-equipped, with retail outlets and cafes. One even has sun loungers. However, this is not how they are needed here. The sand is very clean, soft, there is vegetation around. The swimming areas are reminiscent of small lagoons, fenced off by breakwaters. The water in them is calm and very warm, almost body temperature. Sometimes sharks swim, but they are not dangerous here, they feed on small fish and plankton.

Pros of staying on Maafushi

Affordable prices for travelers on a budget. Nice beach, warm water... Calm, safe.

Cons of resting on Maafushi

More than five days of rest is boring. Boring. There is nowhere to go in the evening. No entertainment.
