To begin with, let's make a small but very important geographic digression. Hainan is pretty large island with length coastline more than 1500 km. There are countless beaches there.

But the most popular tourist spot, where most Russian tourists go, is the city of Sanya - the most southern point islands. We will talk about the beaches of this place in this article.

There are 4 bays in the city:

• Sanya Bay
• Da Dong Hai
• Yalong Bay
• Khaitan Bay

1. Sanya Bay

This bay is famous for its sprawling hotels with large areas, swimming pools, fountains and more. The first time we rested here. We even had our own "hot springs" on the territory of our hotel. In general, the Chinese have swung themselves here.

Perhaps the greatest advantage of this place is the relative silence and tranquility. There are not many people on the beach, there are not many cafes and entertainment, there is no fuss. Lots of sand, little debris. The entrance to the sea is mostly shallow.

If you want calm and measured rest, this place is perfect for you.

And now about the cons - not all hotels have their own private beach and direct access to the sea. To get from our hotel, for example, you had to cross a rather busy road. And there are no pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, you had to cross the road in dashes.

Those who like to stroll around the evening city will not really like this place, since all the entertainment, cafes, restaurants, concerts and shops will have to go (by bus or taxi). This turned out to be the biggest disadvantage for us on that first trip. Because of this, the first time we visited few places, and interesting places in the center of Sanya there are plenty.

Therefore, I highly recommend choosing a hotel in the bay, which is as close as possible to the central part of the city. We will talk about it now.

2. Da Dong Hai

This is the busiest part of the city: cafes, restaurants, markets, shopping centers- everything is at hand. Life is in full swing here.

Hotels in this part of the city are not so sprawling, they are built quite densely and stretch high up: if hotels in Sanya Bay have large territories, then here the hotel may not have its own park or swimming pool. But I don't see a big problem in this, since it literally takes 5 minutes to walk to the sea.

The beach here is sandy, but in some places at the entrance you have to step over clusters of pebbles, which hit the legs with the waves. The coast can be different: both gentle and not very. I recommend swimming inside the areas that are fenced with buoys - there is a good entry into the sea.

There are much more people here (but there is no hustle and bustle, you can always find a place), this inevitably leads to clogging. But, we must pay tribute to the Chinese, they constantly clean and tidy it up, so it's nice to be on it.

This beach is equipped with everything you need: sun loungers with soft seats - 25 yuan, there are lockers - from 15 yuan, free toilets. There are cafes and small restaurants along the entire beach.

The big disadvantage of this beach: when a typhoon approaches, which happens during the rainy season, this beach can be closed. Close in the literal sense of the word, that is, drive everyone out of it and block it. We closed the beach for 4 days.

For some reason, it is in this bay that the most big waves... The Chinese are reinsured, and our sad tourists walk around the beach and count the remaining vacation days.

But in fact, you should not be sad, but it is best to go to other bays. Either to the closest Sanya Bay, which we talked about above, or to the incomparable Yalong Bay (be sure to read the article about transport to Hainan and what is the rainy season in Hainan).

3. Yalong Bay

Yalong Bay is called the 5-star bay. The high cost of these places is felt as soon as you get off the bus: beautiful lawns, very clean, ideal roads.

Only the most expensive hotels with the highest ratings are located here. They are even more sweeping than in the very first beach of Sanya Bay. Huge parks, swimming pools and the like.

I liked this beach more than anyone else: it was very clean, a lot of sand, free umbrellas, a gentle coastline. Waves are not too big here, so the beach is open even when nearby Da Dong Hai is closed.

A huge number of beach activities for every taste. True, there are long lines to them.

There are many people, but there is enough space for everyone. Very nice beach.

And now about the cons: from Da Dong Hai Bay, the road will take about 40 minutes by bus. In the evening, the last bus leaves at 5:30 or even earlier ( exact time can be viewed at the bus stop). After that only take a taxi back.

It is quite quiet and calm here on the streets, cafes are concentrated in small shopping centers.

4. Khaitan Bay

Unfortunately, I did not manage to visit this bay, since it is located quite far from the central part of the city. I can't even tell if there are any buses going there. I only know that this part of the city is still developing.
