Tianmenshan Mountain

Locals often call it Tianmen. Its height is one and a half thousand meters. This mountain is famous for the "Heavenly Gates" cave located very high. Its height is one hundred thirty-two meters, length - sixty meters, width - fifty-seven. The cave was created by erosion. During the collapse, a huge block of rock broke away from the mountain. Sometimes this cave is called a fairy cave due to the belief that it is connected with the sky.

"Yellow Dragon"

Zhangjiajie National Park, the photo of which you can see in this article, is famous for its caves. One of the most beautiful in the world is the four-level karst cave "Yellow Dragon". Its height is over 140 meters, and its depth is about fifteen kilometers.

Inside there are thirteen halls, more than a hundred galleries, four waterfalls, two underground rivers and three lakes, thousands of stalagmites, stalactites, stalagmata. The rarest stalagmite reaches twenty meters in height and only ten centimeters in diameter.

Yangjiajie

In the northeast, Zhangjiajie National Park is adjacent to this conservation area. It includes the Xiangzhi Stream, Longquan and Baihou Valleys. The author of the unusual project was the architect Haim Dotan. The cost of development, and then the implementation of the project was almost three and a half million dollars.

The structure is located three hundred meters above a deep abyss. The bridge is four hundred thirty meters long and six meters wide. The glass bridge in Zhangjiajie National Park connects two cliffs and consists of heavy-duty steel structures and ninety-nine slabs of three-layer glass. This structure is capable of supporting eight hundred people at a time.

It is interesting that on the day of its grand opening, the number of people wishing to see the structure with their own eyes was a record figure - eight thousand people. Tourists note that the walk here is very pleasant - you can feel the much-desired unity with nature. Crowds of tourists are found only in some areas, so you can enjoy the sound of the water in the stream, the cheerful chirping of birds, and the picturesque views of the mountains.

In this zone, at one of the stops, very insidious monkeys live. Tourists try to treat them with all sorts of sweets. Do not do this. These cute, at first glance, animals are very cunning and dexterous - they can completely imperceptibly leave you without wallets, phones and other valuable things. In addition, they often show aggression towards a person.

Vegetation

China's Zhangjiajie National Park amazes tourists with its diversity of flora and its beauty. Scientists believe that the tropical humid climate and varied terrain contributed to the emergence of dense forests in Wulingyuan. Vegetation develops here much faster than in the neighboring provinces of the country.

More than seven hundred and seventy plant species grow on the territory of the park. There are very rare specimens among them. These include the gingko biloba, the softest chestnut (Chinese), the pigeon tree, and on the plains travelers can see compact tangerine groves.

But a special impression on visitors to the park is made by the large white stipules of a pigeon tree swaying in the wind, which resemble a huge flock of white doves.

Animals in the park

Zhangjiajie National Park has become home to more than five hundred species of different animals. Twenty-eight of them are rare, and therefore are under constant protection. These include:

If you want to see extraordinarily beautiful landscapes, then you must visit this unique place... To see the Zhangjiajie National Park, you must first get to the city of the same name, and then get to the small villages located at the entrances to the park. There are several ways to get to the city: by plane, train, bus. Let's consider each of them in more detail.

By plane

If you are planning to visit Zhangjiajie National Park and spend as little time as possible on the road, then this option is more suitable for you. You can fly by plane from other major cities in the country. The airport is located five kilometers from the city center. Flights are made here daily aircraft from Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin and other cities in the country.

You can get from the airport to the city by bus or taxi, which will take you to the park entrance for 100 yuan ($ 15).

By train

Zhangjiajie National Park is of great interest to all tourists who come to the country, so many trains leave here. If you wish, you can stay at a hotel in the park, unless, of course, you are intimidated by the Spartan living conditions: there are frequent interruptions in electricity, water, and Internet disconnections. After the closure of the park, tourists cannot leave its territory, which, you see, is not very convenient.

Opening hours and cost of attendance

Zhangjiajie National Park can be visited throughout the year. Opening hours depend on the season:

• in summer - from 7.00 to 19.00;
• in winter - from 7.30 to 17.00.

In summer it is not hot at all, and in winter there are no severe frosts.

There are two types of entrance tickets:

• It is better to come to the park early, then you will have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty in relative silence.
• If you want to use the Bailong elevator, then it is also better to do it in the morning and go down before 16:00. Otherwise, you can spend about four hours in line.
• You will have to walk a lot in the park, so prepare comfortable shoes to prevent chafing. The same can be said about clothes: they must be comfortable.
• To conserve energy for exploring the park for a longer time, combine hiking with the cable cars and the ski lift.
• When heading to the park, be sure to take a card (you can buy it at the entrance), sunscreen, cash, water and food. You can buy food in the park, but the prices for them are excessively high. The most available in these shops are fruits, corn, fried potatoes (about 10 yuan).

There are such sights, which are described a lot in advertising booklets, a lot of colorful words have been said, but in fact they are nothing. So Zhangjiajie National Park is NOT that case. It is really beautiful here and sometimes it just takes your breath away from the landscapes you see.

Unexpected meeting

The last story of my trip was about the Emeishan Mountains and this story can hardly be called successful. But this is already in the past, everything is forgotten and we are moving further to the east of China. Before going to Zhangjiajie National Park, I needed to “activate” my double entry visa. To do this, they had to fly to Macau, spend the night at the airport overnight, then take the train to Guangzhou and fly to Changsha, the nearest large city next to Zhangjiajie Park. Here's a stupid route that made my trip a little more expensive. What can you do, it is better not to violate the visa regime.

As I have noticed more than once, everything that is not done for the better. At the Macau airport, he met a very curious man who has been traveling for 11 years and is clearly not going to stop. The name of this man is Alechandro and he hails from sunny Rio de Janeiro. He had a dilemma, by the morning he had to choose the next country and we dealt with this interesting question during the waiting hours. The choice had to be made between a 3-month stay in Japan, or fly to Australia for a year. I categorically insisted on Japan, since, in my opinion, it is more interesting country in terms of culture, history and people living there. As a result, Alexandro did not make up his mind, leaving the airport terminal in thought. I have his contacts, I'll ask him sometime. I think he's in Japan now

How to get to Zhangjiajie city, China?

Let's go back to the article and talk about how to get to Zhangjiajie National Park, as there are several important points. We will get there from Changsha airport, everything is simple here. At the exit from the airport terminal there is a "help" where you need to explain that you need a bus to the Changsha railway station. The bus costs RMB 16.5, goes about 40 minutes and you are very close to Changsha Railway Station. The building is large, you will not miss, walk to it for about five minutes.

Then you have 2 options:

• buy a train ticket
• or a bus ticket (bus ticket offices are located to the left of the railway station building)

Ticket for a train costs about 100 yuan for a place in second-class carriage, bus will cost you about in the same amount... The way to the city of Zhangjiajie takes about four hours, but do not rush to rejoice at the arrival, you are still not in the park... In my opinion, the most sensible solution would be not to rush through on the first day to Zhangjiajie Park, but to stay in the town for the night, and then go to the park with fresh strength in the morning (your strength will still be useful there). China has a hostel chain called Hostelling International with a significant number of hostels across the country. So, for example, you can stay at one of them at Zhangjiajie city and find out there are places in the hostel, which is located in the park. Book a room right away and leave extra things for free storage. This is very convenient, especially since the prices are quite reasonable. Let's say you have to pay only for a place in the dorm. 50 yuan.

The hostel, located in the city, is called, from the station a taxi will take you for 10 yuan, it takes 5-7 minutes to go. The main thing is to remember that it is located on the 4th floor, I personally did not manage to find it right away. But the place is very pleasant, I recommend it.

Zhangjiajie National Park in China. How much is admission?

So, we have booked a room "on the mountain", morning has come and we are on our way to Zhangjiajie Park. From the hostel already known to us on bus number 5 or take a taxi to the bus station. When I was preparing to visit the park, I first began to study detailed maps and routes on other resources. Come to the hostel in Zhangjiajie city, throw your backpacks on the bunks and walk into the hostel lobby holding the purchased park map. Either travelers who have already returned from the mountain, or the friendly hostel staff at the reception will give you several routes to choose from in 15 minutes.

Also, directly in the hostel in the park, you can adjust the route by talking with people who have been in the park longer than you or have been in parts of the park that you have not yet visited. Don't go according to plan, go with hiking trails and it is likely best places and the best shots you will find on trails where crowds of Chinese tourists do not lead. The card can be bought at the train station, in the hostel or in the park itself.

It will also not be superfluous to say that Zhangjiajie Park is large, but in 2-3 days it is quite possible to inspect most of it. In general, I had two full days for inspection and this time was quite enough. Be sure to take food, on the mountain everything is several times more expensive.

For what I love backpacking places, there you can always find interesting people and have fun with them. It happened this time too. Our company consisted of three Chinese students, two friends from Shenzhen (one of whom is from Barbados, his name is Tyrone) and me. Initially, without planning the route, I completely devoted myself to the knowledge of my new friends and never regretted it. In one day, we surveyed two sections of the park at once, which I certainly would not have been able to do alone. On the map, as best I could, I marked the places that we visited on the first day, and what exactly we managed to see for me, the photographs will tell.

After the part that is located to the left of the hostel, we took a taxi to the next one. Walking here, the impression was created that I was not in China, but at home, in Russia. I never expected so much snow and such beautiful snow-covered trails. Of course, there are some advantages when you know little about a new place for yourself. You expect one thing, but here you are completely different, even more beautiful

On the second day, the friendly company departed in all directions, and I had to explore another part of the already beloved park alone. The second day was no worse than the first. I had to go up and down 1.5 kilometers 2 times, but without a backpack it's an easy walk. This part of the park is one of the most popular, most pass it in a day and return to their hotels. By the way, the vast majority of tourists stay outside the park, in my opinion, making a big mistake. But this is everyone's business ...

When I first arrived at the park, it was very windy and cold, the landscapes did not inspire me and I thought that visiting Zhangjiajie would not give me pleasure. In fact, it turned out to be one of the most interesting and beautiful places that we managed to see. I have not been to the park in the summer, but I strongly advise you to visit here in the winter - exceptionally correct time.

Yes, it's chilly here in the mornings. Yes, there is no water on the mountain in the hostel, but all these are trifles and you can survive these inconveniences for several days. When you walk through the ice forest, feed funny monkeys or conquer the next peak, all the little things will get lost in your memory and only pleasant memories will remain. The park is magnificent, now I understand why so many people want to see it with their own eyes.

This is where my journey ends. I decided that the next mountain, which was supposed to be Huangshan and huge Shanghai, were no longer particularly interesting, and on this journey I found enough for myself. Important! There are especially many tourists in the park from May 1 to May 3 and from October 1 to October 7 (national Chinese holidays), as well as in July-August during summer holidays... If you want to explore the park calmly and unhurriedly, without standing in lines for half the time and without crowding to take a photo a nice place, I strongly advise you to choose a different time for travel.

Important! You will really have to walk a lot in Zhangjiajie - I advise you to think in advance about comfortable shoes and clothes. The area of ​​the park, in which there are especially many "soaring" mountains, is called Yuanjiajie. Here, by the way, there are many sculptures depicting those very avatars - rarely who can resist the opportunity to be photographed with these fabulous characters.

Yangjiajie Park... Some consider it a separate park, others just the Zhangjiajie zone. Be that as it may, this attraction attracts crowds of tourists.

Tianzi mountain... This attraction is popular not only for its natural beauty, but also for another interesting architectural site - the Imperial Palace.
As for me, this is a too loud name for a building of this size, but the building is really beautiful, made in the traditional way.

Stream of the golden whip... This is a very picturesque stream with walking paths along which stretch for 8 km. There are not so many tourists here as in other places, so if you want to enjoy the murmur of the stream and the singing of birds in relative solitude, this is the right place for you.

• Cave of the yellow dragon... An equally popular attraction is the huge Yellow Dragon Cave, whose height reaches 140 m. It is one of the largest karst caves on the planet. Thanks to the most beautiful interior "decoration", consisting of bizarre and unusual shapes and colors, the cave is considered magical. Inside, you can also see numerous underground rivers and pools, as well as waterfalls.
• Fenghuang... This, albeit small, but very ancient and beautiful city, which attracts tourists primarily with its architecture. Its small wooden houses look really "Chinese" and are very picturesque. The atmosphere in the city is indescribable.
• Baofeng Lake... This picturesque reservoir fits so harmoniously into the surrounding landscape that it is hard to believe that it has no natural origin.
• Zhangjiajie - the grand canyon... Near National park there is another popular attraction - The grand canyon Zhangjiajie, where, in addition to beautiful walking trails and a magnificent lake, there is another iconic place: hanging glass bridge- the longest and narrowest in the world.

1. First you need to get to Zhangjiajie City. Since it has its own airport, the easiest way is to fly here. by plane... There are regular flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xian, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and many others.
2. From the airport you can get either to the city or directly to the park using taxi or bus... If you are thinking about how to get to Zhangjiajie from Beijing or Shanghai as quickly as possible, air travel is probably the best option.
3. Also you can get to Zhangjiajie by train... It will take much longer, but the cost of such a trip is also lower.
4. If you are already close to Zhangjiajie, you can use bus services... However, buses from such cities as Shanghai, Changsha, Wuhan and others also regularly travel here, but this is far from the most convenient way of getting around - travel by train or plane is much more comfortable. I advise you to choose them in order to save energy and nerves for exploring the park.
5. From the city you can get to the National Park by bus or order a taxi.
