Its name has Baltic roots and is translated as “bottomless”. In addition to it, the group includes 10 more lakes: Glublya, Glubelka, Dead, Yachmenek, Karasik, Kueli, Bolduchitsa, Imsharets, Ilginiya, Glukhoe. The lakes are surrounded by high hills overgrown with pine and spruce forests. At the foot of the hills flows the Stracha River - the right tributary of the Viliya, which originates from Lake Malye Shvakshty. Beavers live in tributaries and streams that flow into Stracha - over 150 of them live in the national park.

Lake Naroch is extremely clean, it is home to over 19 species of fish, including whitefish, pike, tench, bream and, of course, the famous Narochansk eel. The surroundings of the lake are decorated with birds - seagulls, ducks, swans. By the nature of the natural vegetation, pine forests, birch groves, twilight spruce forests, full of game, berries, mushrooms, as well as especially valuable - chaga and burl. In the place where the reservoir flows into the Narochanka River, the coastal area is characterized by a high level of humidity. The shores here are quite low, but swampy, which leads to the formation of small swamps. This habitat is ideal for herons, which can be found in abundance here.

In summer, the water in the lake warms up to 19 degrees, and bathing season lasts almost a hundred days a year. It is also worth noting that Lake Naroch is the center of the Naroch National Park. There are about 40 lakes in it, Naroch is the largest. In rainy or foggy weather, it is almost impossible to see the opposite shore of the lake, so it is also popularly known as the “Belarusian Sea”.

In response, the rich man stole the girl. Cornflower rushed after him, saved his beloved, but at the same time killed the master. His servants rushed after the fugitives. Vasilyok sent Galina home, and he himself decided to continue his flight, diverting the attention of his pursuers. But instead of her own home, Galina saw the aftermath terrible fire... The girl's only hope was the return of her lover. Galina dared to look in the mirror, but instead of her reflection, she saw the body of the killed Vasilko, lying on a hill and a black crow circling above him. In horror, she dropped the mirror - it shattered, and its fragments turned into the Narochanskie lakes. The girl herself became a seagull, and to this day she circles over the water surface, calling her Vasilko.

It occupies one of the first places among the lakes of Belarus in terms of transparency and purity of water. In summer, the transparency of the water allows you to see up to 5-7 meters deep into the water, and in winter - all 10 meters. The water in Naroch is rich in oxygen and saturated with minerals (at least 200 mg / l).

However, the cleanliness of the lake and its transparency (usually transparent lakes have a low food value) do not interfere with fishing. There are 25 fish species in the waters of the lake. So fishing on the Naroch will also leave a lot of pleasant emotions.

The lake water is very clean, which creates conditions for salmon fish farming. In the distant 19th century, the fish stocks of Lake Naroch saved people from death: during the non-harvest years, the inhabitants of the Vilna province were starving, and the population of coastal villages collected whole carts of bleak.

Today, 25 types of fish can become trophies of a fisherman: eel, tench, pike, bream, Amur carp, perch, etc.

There is no shortage of not only fish, but also birds on the lake. The mute swan, great tern and grebe, which are rare for Belarus, nest here.

Amateur hunting and fishing on Lake Naroch are paid, vouchers are sold in the building of the administration of the National Park "Narochansky". Hunters usually manage to shoot a black grouse or a capercaillie; the more fortunate ones take with them the antlers of an elk, deer, roe deer, and wild boar.

For tourists vacationing in the sanatoriums of Naroch, excursions are organized to the "Blue Lakes" reserve, to the village of Budslav, famous for its ancient history, and the village of Mosar with a magnificent arboretum, etc.

17 streams carry their waters to Lake Naroch, as well as a short channel of the Skema, which connects Naroch with Lake Myastro. The river of the same name flows out of the Naroch. Lake Naroch is divided into two reaches (Small and Big) by the Nanosy Peninsula. Not far from the northeastern part of the coast is an island with an area of 6.2 hectares, declared a natural monument. A fifth of Lake Naroch has been overgrown, about 3% of the area is covered with thickets, but this does not interfere with recreation at all.

On the lake you can find a huge number of waterfowl. On the one hand, it is an opportunity for tourists to see rare and endangered birds, and on the other hand, it is an alarm signal for those who like to swim. The fact is that birds infect the lake waters with cercariosis. Therefore, you can swim in Naroch only from the pier, but it is strictly forbidden to wet your feet near the shore, where birds swim.

The term kulgrynda came to us from ancient times, when our territory was inhabited by the Baltic tribes. Kulgrynda is a paved road through a body of water (lake, swamp or river). As a rule, such a road had a winding shape and was laid under water for security purposes, it could lead to the city or some kind of shrine.

The base of the kulgrynda was built of large stones 50-80 cm in diameter, stumps and tree trunks placed in the water, or it was a complex structure of pine logs laid across, on which sand was poured from above. The top layer was made up of neatly folded stones with a diameter of 10-20 cm. On the sides, the kulgrynds were reinforced with pine or stone wedges, and, with the help of special ditches, were protected from drift by silt.

There is such a road on Lake Naroch. It is popularly called Devil's rowing. Narochanskaya kulgrynda is located at a depth of a little more than a meter from the surface of the water and rises at a height of about one and a half meters from the bottom of the lake. The length of the Chetrovaya rowing was about a kilometer, and its width allowed a carriage drawn by four horses to pass.

There are also kulgryndy on the Svityaz lake and may have been on the lake in Myadel.
