These are the longest ice caves in the world. Today, only a small area of them is open to the public, but this is strikingly enough to allow visitors to feel the wonderful and mysterious whim of nature.

This strange place is located in the Richat structure, on the African continent. It can be seen from space due to its length of almost 50 km. These are authentic dry valleys in Antarctica, with dark gravel scattered across the ground, similar to volcanic regions on Canary Islands, which are equated to Mars. The valley is so cool and dry (the driest place on earth) that everything that dies there is preserved like a mummy. She's like a natural freezer. In addition, here you can find the corpses of seals that died several centuries ago.

Our very own little Mars on Earth is located in Spain. The resemblance of this strange place to the red planet is so high that NASA conducted various experiments here because of this. This river creates such an unusual environment due to its enormous acidity, namely the red color gives it a high copper content. All this is due to the fact that gold and copper were mined on the river.

This island has very interesting vegetation, which makes it a unique and almost anomalous ecosystem. It is part of an archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean, which were separated from Africa about 7 million years ago. As well Galapagos Islands, they contain more than 700 very rare species of both flora and fauna, and about a third is characteristic only of this area.

The Afar Depression in Ethiopia, better known as the Danakil Basin, is one of the hottest populated areas on Earth, with temperatures ranging from 35 degrees Celsius when it's cool, and about 60 ° C when it's hot. This is an area in the Horn of Africa where tectonic plates separate, allowing the waters of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to land on land. This is the reason for such bright colors of the landscape. It should be noted that this is a very volcanic and radiation zone. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most unusual places on the ground.

11. Soaring geyser Nevada

This geyser in Nevada is one of the strangest landmarks in the United States. It was created in 1916 by accident while drilling oil wells: water heated by geothermal energy came to the surface, provoking this colorful sight. The geyser is composed of various minerals and thermophilic algae that emit water jets 1.5 m into the air and give it such a variety of colors and plastic appearance... This terrace consists of about 40 water pools on an area of 30 hectares.

Located in Yellowstone National Park. It is the largest geothermal source in the United States and the third largest in the world. With its appearance, it undoubtedly deserves a spot on the list of the strangest places on the planet. The source is formed by thermophilic bacteria that produce colors ranging from green to red. The colors depend on the ratio of chlorophyll to carotenoids and on the temperature of the water.

Our planet has many worthy places that you should definitely visit. I already wrote about some of them a couple of months ago. However, then it was about the most famous places, which, despite their originality, are well known and popular to everyone. Today we will focus on those parts of the planet, most of which are incredibly difficult to get to.

Kasha-Katuve cliffs

This unusual rock formation is located in New Mexico and was created by nature about seven million years ago. Volcanic ash, erosion and weathering have led to the formation of such unusual tent mountains.

An unusual creation of the nature of the Kasha-Katuve rock

The rocks have a rather interesting altitude variety, which rises to thirty meters in height with pointed peaks like tourist tents or Indian wigwams. This formation of Kasha-Katuve got its name from the area in which they are located and in translation they sound like "White Rocks".

Volcanoes are those natural formations that always attract thrill seekers. However, it is they that are one of the most inaccessible places on earth, and if you add the difficult Antarctic climate to such a place, it turns out that the ice towers and caves of Erebus are an unattainable dream for most tourists.

The icy splendor of Erebus volcano

At the same time, the most interesting tourist destination is not even the peaks of the Erebus volcano, which rise 4 kilometers upward, but lava lake volcano and ice caves on its slopes. The lava in this lake is unique and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

In addition to caves, one of the most interesting phenomena is the ice chimneys on the slopes of the volcano. They are formed in the process of exiting underground caves vapors of warm air, which, in contact with the forty-degree frosty Antarctic climate, build up these chimneys.

Philippine eighth wonder of the world - rice terraces

Twenty years ago, this man-made beauty of human hands was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And now rice terraces are a vivid example of how nature helps a person with due respect for her on the part of this very person.

The eighth wonder of the world - Banaue rice terraces

Some of Banaue's rice terraces are believed to be about six thousand years old. The most interesting thing about them is not even that their total area is more than 10,000 square kilometers, and if they could be located close to each other, they would occupy half the globe, but the fact that they are all man-made and completely made by hand.

Another interesting feature of this most interesting place on earth is the original irrigation system - fresh water enters the terraces using ancient irrigation methods directly from the tropical forests that are located higher in the mountains. And if you take into account the fact that all Banaue rice terraces were created at an altitude of one and a half kilometers, then they can definitely be safely equated to a new wonder of the world.

Wonder of the world with a thousand-year history

Moreover, all these terraces not only do not disfigure the Philippine Cordilleras, but, on the contrary, Tosno repeat all their bends, emphasizing the splendor and beauty of the majestic mountain ranges. This miracle now attracts thousands of tourists who want to look not only at the delicate greenery of rice plantations, but to follow the work of local residents still growing rice according to the behests of an ancient tribe of rice growers.

This unique natural formation is located in Yakutia along the banks of the majestic Siberian Lena River. Along many kilometers for coastline look down on everyone upwardly stretched rocks, called the Lena Pillars. Now the Lena Pillars are not just unusual mountain formations, but a whole natural park that stretches along the Lena River for as much as 200 kilometers.

Lena Pillars - a monument of the Cambrian era

Unusual park of early Cambrian sediments

It should be noted that not only the beauty and monumentality of the Pillars is unique, but also their geological structure, which belongs to the early Cambrian period in the history of the development of the Earth. At this time, the first skeletal animals appeared on our planet, and it was in the rocks of the Lena Pillars that scientists discovered the burial of representatives of numerous mammoth species and the imprints of such a unique sample of the Cambrian fauna as epiphyton algae.

Horseshoe caldera in Scotland

The Glencoe Valley, which is located in the northern part of Great Britain, is considered to be one of the most picturesque and memorable places on British Isles... It stretches for 16 kilometers in the mouth of the oldest volcano and has unique monuments of nature and history.

The British come here for the stunning variety of flora that cuts the river valley with clear waters and magnificent mountain peaks. The splendor of nature and silence - what else is needed for a good outdoor recreation and getting away from civilization.

In addition, this place is notorious for its events of four centuries ago, during which the Jacobin uprising was brutally suppressed on the slopes of the valley. Recent events have given rise to another name for the valley - "Valley of Tears".

The enchanting beauty of the Glencoe Valley

Interesting place - Indian Park "Valley of Flowers"

The Valley of Flowers National Park is located along the western slopes of the Himalayas on an area of 90 square kilometers. At the same time, the valley of flowers itself, which gave the name to the park, is only a fifth.

At an altitude of 3.5-4 kilometers above sea level, you can see a site eight kilometers long and two latitudinal. It is here that you can observe a unique natural phenomenon - about six hundred representatives of the alpine, subalpine and alpine fauna grow in the protected area of the valley. Moreover, some of their representatives, such as the blue poppy or the Himalayan maple, can be seen only in this valley.

Unique flower "Valley of Flowers" - blue poppy

Desert miracle of the USA - Lechugia cave

There is an amazing creation of nature in the USA. Of course, there are many places in the world where nature has created bizarre underground passages, but Lechugia stands out from ordinary caves with its gigantic volumes. It is already safe to say that this cave is the deepest on the American continent. The cave goes down into the ground down to a depth of 500 meters, and the total length of its underground passages exceeds 150 kilometers.

It is especially worth noting the ecosystem of the cave - it is "thanks" to it that there are no usual routes for tourists in Lechug, and only researchers are allowed to enter the underground. This ecosystem is unique in that in the underground passages and grottoes of the cave there is a special world that is practically completely isolated from the outside world, sunlight and everything that is on the surface of the Earth.

Moreover, during the research it turned out that some inhabitants of the underworld literally eat through the vaults of the cave. For them, the chemical elements contained there are a source of energy that allows them to exist.

Another interesting fact. Before the discovery of this cave 30 years ago, the world in it was literally mothballed for almost a hundred million years.

Krubera-Voronya cave - a fast way to the bowels of the earth

There is a cave in Abkhazia, which is considered the deepest in the world today. Now it is reliably known that the depth of this cave extends for almost two kilometers. And although there is no "direct exit" to the underground kingdom, unlike the Lechugia cave, since its height is located in the mountains at the level of 2256 meters, the path itself, which is more than two kilometers long, is in itself a unique natural phenomenon.

The cave was discovered more than fifty years ago in the area of the Orto-Balagan tract, and for a long time it was considered superficial with a depth of up to one hundred meters. Until it was investigated by numerous expeditions, each of which, having reached the mark of 210, 340, 710 meters, did not announce the end of the length of the passages. All this continued until seven years ago, a group of cavers managed to reach a depth of 2196 meters.

This cave has its second nickname. Due to the large number of crows nesting there, it is also called the Crow. Moreover, unlike the aforementioned Lechugia, this cave has many tourist routes and anyone can admire its beauty.

Fairy land of elves - Plitvice Lakes

In the central part of Croatia, there is a beautiful oasis with "devil's forests" and a complex of lakes and waterfalls that create a truly fabulous landscape. On the territory of this alpine valley, as many as 16 lakes with fantastically blue water and magnificent rustling waterfalls have formed.

The territory of this reserve is divided into two parts with upper and lower lakes, connected by magnificent cascades of waterfalls. Moreover, no one knows the exact number of these waterfalls, since nature creates new cascades every year.

All this happens due to complete non-interference in the ecosystem of lakes and all sticks and branches that fall into the water are never removed from it, and subsequently, under the influence of limestone, they petrify and become a barrier in the path of water, forming a new cascade of waterfalls. This amount of limestone not only forms bizarre build-ups and calcium deposits, but gives the water a delightful blue appearance with a greenish tint.

At the junction of two Latin American countries - Brazil and Argentina, nature has created real beauty - the cascade of the Iguazu Falls. This system of 275 small and large waterfalls, which stretches for three kilometers, is considered the most powerful in the world. The largest waterfall was nicknamed by the Spanish conquistadors the Devil's Throat for its power and unusual shape in the shape of the letter U.

The greatness of the waterfall is fully revealed during the rainy season from November to March, when the water flow is so large that the rate of its discharge reaches thirteen thousand cubic meters of water per second.

P.S.... All those who liked this article will also like the article about, which was the discoverer in the TOP-10 heading.

First place - Bolivia. The beauty of Lake Uyuni

Perhaps it is worth starting our top with this unique salt lake, which occupies the largest area in the world. Many people call this Uyuni a place where the passage of time slows down. Surprising is the fact that the surface of the lake can be overcome on foot. During rainy days, Uyuni undergoes some changes, eventually becoming a large-scale mirror square. nice looking... At a distance of three kilometers from the city, which bears the same name, there is a cemetery, which was the last stop for a large number of steam locomotives, which in the old days served as vehicles for transporting various minerals (they were mined on the territory of local mines).

The saline surface represents a quite optimal alternative to the vastness of the ocean in terms of such important aspects as checking and tuning the operation of instruments designed to carry out the sounding process using satellites in Earth's orbit. The territory of the lake is occupied by whole islands, the main flora of which are cacti. This spectacle is incredibly contradictory, but at the same time and amazing so much that it will definitely need to be captured with a camera.

Second place - Cinque Terre

The place called Cinque Terre is considered the most beautiful national park in Italy, which located in the eastern part of the Riviera. A picturesque place like the Cinque Terre is steeped in the spirit of the Middle Ages in Italy. A reliable level of land protection was ensured thanks to the rocky coast, combining at one time unforgettable beauty and serious danger.

Third place - Pamukkale

Now, perhaps, it is worth turning to the southwestern part of Turkey, which is characterized by a unique and a magnificent geological phenomenon - calcareous tuff, or rather rocky terrain, created on the basis of this natural material. This place is the main source of streams that flow down massive stone steps. It is home to many waterfalls and unique pools of unusual origins. Cotton castle - this is the poetic name given to the amazing landscape by the inhabitants themselves. Thanks to the thermal springs and natural terraces of Pamukkale, located at the mountain foothills, an excellent view is created, which attracts many tourists to this area every year. This painting appears to be a treasure trove of water saturated with a large amount of calcium, against the general background of an excellent landscape, which is presented in white tones.

Fourth place - Yunnan rice terraces territory

Another simply stunningly beautiful place on the planet is the territory of rice fields, which is located in China. This area is located in the mountainous regions of the province, which bears the name of Yunnan. At the terraces, the degree of length is characterized by several tens of kilometers, exactly repeating the bend of the general relief. The general uniqueness of this area lies in the basic nature of the ecological type system, which was formed in an independent way. Rice is planted when February comes, because during this period the soil is being renewed thanks to the mountain mines. The beginning of the autumn period is considered the time when the inhabitants begin to harvest. The tourism season begins towards the end of autumn and continues until spring. It is during this time period that natural terraces become the main object of attention of tourists, striking first of all with a mirror type of surface that reflects the rays of the sun, while creating an excellent color spectrum.

Fifth place - the beauty of the blue hole in Belize

The central part of the atoll (one of the many features related to the coral barrier reef near the coast of Belize) is represented by the most beautiful landscape - a blue hole, which appears in the form of a cave disappearing somewhere in the depths. Sixth place - great views of the Arizona wave

In the area of the border separating the states of Arizona and Utah, there is a plateau on which there are sandy rocks of incredibly beautiful shape, which are called waves, because of the funny uneven shapes and colors with a high degree of saturation. In order to make the way to this amazing place, professional photographers have to go through a difficult path: a flat road in such an area is not expected. The creation of a peculiar structure of the magnificent landscape took place over a long period of time through the transformation of dunes from sand into hard rocks.

Seventh place - features of Jiuzhaigou National Park

In the southeast of China, there is the territory of the Sichuan province, which attracts a huge number of tourists. And all thanks to the beautiful Jiuzhaigou nature reserve, which occupies the server of the region. It represents a unique natural object under the strictest protection. Waterfalls and lakes in large numbers are hidden from curious tourists by the mountain ranges of Tibet. These waters are called colored because they carry a special composition.

Not everyone is able to get to this reserve, nevertheless, not so long ago, the mountainous region acquired an airport, which provides an opportunity to get to this area directly from the territory of Shanghai. The territory of Croatia, which is considered to be very mysterious and colorful edge. First of all, I would like to refer specifically to Plitvice Lakes, which are located in a large-scale national state park... The nature of the surrounding nature creates a mystical atmosphere. The territory of the park is surrounded by very dense impenetrable forests, which the locals call the "Devil's Forest".

Almost each of the sixteen lakes is located within a mountain valley. There is a connection between them, which is why, thanks to the cleanest mountain streams, the formation of grandiose noisy fountains is carried out. From year to year, waterfalls are becoming more and more, because water causes the effect of destruction of limestone rocks. The total area of the water area is about two square kilometers. The location of the waterfalls themselves is observed at various levels. Thanks to the reservoirs, the formation of two picturesque complexes is carried out - the Upper Lakes and the Lower Lakes.

Ninth place - Features of the Valley of 10 Peaks. Canada

Canada is considered a harsh land, but incredibly attractive due to the beauty of the "cold" nature. One is located here beautiful place, which stands out for its incredible natural beauty, which is called the valley of “10 peaks”, which is located right at the very foot of 10 mountains that bear the common name Vekčkemna. This area is located not so far from the famous Moraine Lake, which is of glacial origin. In this area, many hiking trails have been laid by the workers, which provide an opportunity to give a real assessment of the local attraction. There are all kinds of lists and ratings that list the most beautiful places in the world. Watch, read and enjoy our top of the most amazing wonders!

Arizona wave

The striking Navajo sandstone formation is located in the United States, on the border of two states - Arizona and Utah. The unique creation is about 190 years old. Wavy lines have been born for centuries by overlapping separate layers. Wind and other atmospheric phenomena completed the incredible landscape.

Getting into the Wave is not so easy. The owner limits the number of visits to 20 per day, because sandstone is a very fragile material and crowds of tourists will trample it in a day.

To become one of those lucky ones who can see it with their own eyes, you need to take part in the lottery. The first ten visitors are drawn 4 months before the excursion, the second ten - the day before the visit. By the way, Australia has its own "wave" - a similar creation, but consisting of granite.

Beach with caves near the Algarve (Portugal)

The sea grottoes at Praia da Rocha near the Portuguese city were born naturally. Wind and raging waves cut the rocks, creating grandiose sculptures, grottoes, caves and figured pillars.

Rice-growing sites in Guangxi Province, China, look like a masterpiece of landscape design or painted batik. In fact, these lines and colors carry deep oriental wisdom. They began to be built during the Yuan Dynasty in the 13th century. Examining rice terraces from special viewing platforms, a ticket for which costs about 250 rubles. with Russian money (50 yuan).
Terraces are wisely planned with weather conditions... Each step is irrigated in the required amount and illuminated by the sun in such doses as needed. This complex ecosystem provides itself: in the spring, spring water, saturated with microelements, flows down from the mountains, which irrigates the terraces with high quality.
